Following Marcy – Earlier
Marcy felt her stomach plummet and her heart stop as she fell from the Tower. She could only manage one word as she lost sight of her friends. "ROWAN!"
It was a fruitless cry for help, but she couldn't stop herself. Her brother's name burst from her mouth before her mind could process it, and it would be the last thing she ever said to him. The last thing she would ever say.
That thought scared her, but the sight of her rushing closer and closer to the ground terrified her even more. The wind beat at her face, causing her eyes to tear up, while her paws swiped pitifully at the open air instinctively trying to slow or grab onto something to stop her fall. However, her attempt was in vain. She had been tossed too far from the Tower for her to even hope of grabbing anything, and even if she did, she doubted her hold would be good.
Marcy swallowed and shut her eyes. She didn't want to see the ground get any closer. It was too scary and she...she...all she could do now was fall. She just hoped it wouldn't hurt.
More tears streamed from her eyes as her heart beat faster and faster in anticipation for the sudden landing. That was until two arms suddenly grabbed her and pulled her in a protective embrace. Marcy felt the wind being blocked and quickly opened her eyes to see Lucy holding her close, back towards the ground putting herself in between Marcy and the ground.
The little fire fox's eyes widened while Lucy gave her a smile. "I've got you!" The older woman cried over the rush of the wind.
If they both somehow made it to the end of the day alive, there was no doubt in Marcy's mind that Hunter would kill her for this. This was the second time Lucy was putting her life on the line to help—no, save Marcy. Or try to save her. The little fire fox wasn't too sure they were going to survive the landing.
Lucy noticed the look of fear still on Marcy's face and rubbed her furry cheek with her thumb. "We've got you."
"W-We?"
The young woman didn't respond to Marcy's question. Instead, she forced her hand against the wind and produced a Pokéball from her belt.
"She has a flying type with her?" Marcy thought hopefully. A tiny smile splayed across her face as relief filled her chest. "We're going to be okay!"
However, that relief was quickly dulled when Lucy held the Pokéball up to Marcy's temple. "Please don't fight or else we'll both die."
This made Marcy's blood run cold. Lucy was going to save her, but not herself. "N-No! Wait, Ms. Lucy!" Marcy tried to pull away from the Pokéball, but Lucy pressed the release button onto the side of her head. She suddenly felt weightless as her entire being dissolved into light, which was absorbed into the Pokéball.
Marcy felt her being take a solid form again as she reappeared within the Pokéball. Breathing heavily, her head snapped back and forth, taking in her metallic surrounding and spotted Lucy through a thin 'window' in the top of the Pokéball. She was clutching the Pokéball tightly to her chest as she continued to fall and whispering to Marcy.
"Stay. Please stay. Please, please don't break out of the ball." Lucy pleaded as she held the Pokéball tightly in her hands. She had her eyes shut now and was repeating her words over and over again, sounding more scared the more she repeated her plea.
Marcy could only watch, not even knowing how she could break out of the Pokéball. Even if she did figure out how or managed to break out what would she be able to do? She could not slow their fall. She could not protect Lucy when they landed. She could do nothing, but watch.
