Chapter 9 - New Best Female Bestfriend

I have been living at Luke's for the past few days. It hasn't been too bad. Yesterday Leclair and I went and changed my address for school, we went and got a marriage license with my mama, we got all my paperwork that I would need for everything else to say that I will be married and that I will be living in the Bryan household.

Today I was lying in bed after Luke has already got out working with Tommy. I already threw my brains out and ate a little bit of oatmeal. I felt like being lazy. I was under the covers and about to fall asleep for a nap when there was a knock on the door. I sat up and kept my legs in the blanket.

"Come in." I said. The door slowly opened and revealed Kelly's cheery smiling face.

"Hey girl. Mama said that you have an appointment with the Gynecologist in an hour. I told her I will take you, and then we can go to lunch and hang out. I would like to get to know my sister-in-law." Kelly said with a smile.

"I totally forgot but thanks. That sounds like fun." I smiled to her. I pulled my legs out of the covers and swung them over the side of the bed. "I should be ready soon." I told her.

"Okay, just knock on my door when you're ready." She told me.

I just nodded and went to get dressed after she left. I put on a tank top and a pair of gym shorts. I felt like a lazy day so I also put my hair up. I got on my cowgirl boots and went out of the room. I walked to Kelly's door and before I could knock I heard her yell from downstairs that she is in the kitchen with mama.

I smiled to myself as I walked into the kitchen seeing the both of them laughing and smiling. I wish my family was more like this. They both looked at me and Kelly hugged her mom after kissing her cheek. Leclair came over to hug me and kiss me on the cheek. She told us to have fun and let her know how long I am.

Kelly and I were on our way outside when we saw Luke and Chris moving barrels around. Luke looked over to us and stopped. He set the barrel down and jogged over to us. Kelly and I stopped at her car waiting for Luke. He had a smile on his face as he came up.

"You two going to the doctor already?" Luke asked.

"Yeah, just get back to work. You'll know everything when we get back. You know Pa won't want you over here to talk while you're not done work." Kelly told him. He looked at me and smirked. He leaned over and kissed me.

"Had to make sure my wife to be was okay before she went without me." He said with a wink. "I don't care if I am working when you get back. Come and let me know all the details." Luke said giving me a quick kiss. He waved bye before he jogged back to his barrel that he just left.

"He looks really happy now to be marrying you, and having a baby." Kelly said as we got in.

"We are trying to look at the brighter side of this situation. We are trying to get along and get to know each other. We are trying to connect with each other." I told her. She nodded and smiled.

"I'm glad both of you are trying to be adults about this. I know both of you are young and scared but you knew what could happen. I don't think many people your ages would do this good with the situation. I also don't think parents would still do the shotgun wedding." Kelly laughed. She shook her head as we drove.

"My parents did. Mama was 16 when she had Daniel. He is 25 now. My father is a little older than my mama but not by too much. Her parents made him marry her. He tells me he never regretted it because god put them together. I just hope it's the same for Luke and me." I admitted to Kelly. She looked over to me and smiled.

"My brother is hardheaded. He always has gotten his way since he is the baby. He has a heart of gold and will do anything for you when he truly cares. He sometimes doesn't think things through and will say things he doesn't mean. He does always make up for it in the end. You two may be young but you just have to be able to work things out. I know you two will find your way to be able to do it." Kelly said as we pulled in. I smiled and nodded.
