The nurse had left over an hour ago. Luckily my temperature was still hot from my shower so she passed me off as sick. My skin was still a tint of red but it was fading. Maybe I shouldn't taking scolding showers anymore...
I took down my hair from the messy bun and let it fall down my shoulders. I put my laundry basket on my waist and walked out of the dorm down to the laundry room. I dumped in my clothes and started the machine. I set the basket on the ground and hopped up on the washer. I pulled out my phone and sighed. I had 19 missed calls and 31 texts. Eleven of the calls and 24 of the texts were from Logan, the rest from James, Carlos, or Kendall. I'd call them back later. After my wash was done I headed back to the dorm. The halls were empty because everyone was in classes. After I put away my clothes I started vacuuming, then finishing the dishes, basically anything to keep my mind off Logan.
Eventually I put on my tennis shoes and pulled my hair up in a pony tail. I plugged in my headphones and walked down to the parking lot, my keys in hand. I drove off campus and pulled into the parking lot. I got out, starting the music. I flinched when Lost In Love came on. It reminded me of Logan and I too much. I switched the song and started to run along the side walk. Anything to keep my mind off of him.
I ran for a good 5 miles before deciding to finish my run. I wrapped my earphones around my neck and stuck my phone in my waistband. I walked into one of the gas stations, grabbing a water out of the drink section. I paid for my drink and walked back to my car. I got in after drinking some of the water. I started driving, mindlessly drumming my fingers on the steering wheel.
Logan used to do that.
I turned up the radio before Logan invaded my thoughts anymore. Once I got back to the dorm I took another shower, this time at normal temperature. By the time I got out Lexi was home.
"Hi!" I chirped as I walked into her room where she was doing her homework.
"Hi, you feeling better?" She asked, looking up.
"A bit. I'l leave you to finish your work."
"Your's is on the table!" She called out as I let the room. I let out a groan and she laughed. I finished my work, keeping my mind off Logan. I checked my phone. I only had 3 missed calls. I opened up my contacts and pressed called
"Hello?" James answered. He must've not checked the caller ID.
"Hey James." I answered.
"Carter!" He exclaimed.
"Carter?" I heard someone in the background say.
"CARTER!" Kendall yelled into the phone.
"KENDORK!" I yelled back.
"Carlos thought you were dead!"
"I did!" Carlos said in the background.
"Hold your horses, boy. As much as I'd like to talk to you, I want to talk to James." I told him. "AND CARLOS, WHY WOULD I BE DEAD?" He answered something unintelligible.
"Fine." He huffed. I could imagine him rolling his eyes.
"Sorry 'bout that." James laughed. I heard a door close. He remained silent.
"I know you want me to tell you about L-Logan." I sighed, choking up on his name.
"Well, duh." He said, but his voice faltered. "Oh sorry- I didn't- "
"It's fine." I answered, running a hand through my hair. "Well, where do I start?"
"With the phone call?" He suggested. I agreed.
"It had been hard, seeing him with Olivia. I felt like he would end up liking her more than me and break up with me for someone better. It hurt when they were all over the news, kissing each other or holding hands."
"Oh."
"Who are you talking to?" A voice said. I tensed, reconizing Logan's voice.
"My mom. Can you go now?" James lied. I heard a door close. "Sorry, go on."
"I mean, he was halfway across the world. It hurt bad not being able to have him right next to me." I took a shaky breath. "And that night, this news show kept replaying what happened on Ellen. I-I guess I kinda snapped. I didn't want to have to live like that and 5 months of it just kind of broke it me. I-It's f-for the better." A few tears fell out of my eyes.
"I'm sorry." He said sympathetically.
"Don't apologize. It's not your fault." My voice cracked. "It's mine."
Some real chiz is about to go down in here :O
