For a moment, I wrinkle my nose at him calling me 'sweetie.' There's something very wrong with him. "No... but it's not like last time. Not only that, the energy and power is practically overwhelming. It's like caffeine constantly shooting itself into my veins," I explain.

"That explains your creepy aura radiating off of you," he replies.

I break the chains with shadows and free him. He rubs his wrists and looks at me uncertainly, like he's still trying to figure out if I'm the real deal or not.

"Oh, check this out!" I say, clenching my eyes closed. There's a sizzle across my skin. The next thing I know, I'm a version of Nathan standing right in front of him.

"That's it. No, no, NO. You're dead!" He shouts.

I transform back. "I've actually never felt more alive. I don't mean to brag or anything, but I'm the most powerful person in the world."

I offer a queasy smile and hold my metal arm up. I transform skin around it, making it look like a normal arm. I'm not gaunt and half starved to death anymore. I'm healthy and glowing. Nothing can stop me.

I sit across from him. He seems to have calmed down a bit, and lightly touches my left arm.

"I don't like that. Bring it back. Normally," he murmurs.

"Why? Don't you like me better this way?" I ask, genuinely confused of his frown.

"I want you the way you were. Go back!"

"No! I'm in control now."

Nathan sighs as if I'm exhausting him. "What I'm trying to say is I thought you were beautiful before. I actually kind of liked your metal."

That's the Nathan I know, slowly seeping out of the crazy exterior in front of me.

His hands begin to tremble. "I- I thought you were dead..."

"But I'm not," I reply bluntly.

Nathan pulls me into his arms, startling me. I let him kiss me for a moment, but kiss back eventually, desperate to have what he had before. Everything was so much easier then.

Someone slides the chamber door open, but I don't bother to look, absorbed in Nathan's lips against mine.

"Let's leave Nathan alone, shall we? You can't stay in here all day," Gwen mumbles grumpily.

"Nathan tightens his grip on my wrist. "No, Rose. Don't leave. Please."

I roll my eyes. "We're leaving together, dumbass. C'mon."

"Y- you can't do that!" Gwen protests furiously, blocking the exit with her body.

I smirk at her. My eyes flash purple for a moment. "Watch me."

I push past her with Nathan stumbling behind me.

Even though I'm the avatar and technically a princess, I've never had this much authority. People are scared of me. And that's exactly how they should be.
