That morning I was woken up by my buzzing alarm clock and I jumped out of bed to get dressed and ready for school. The past weekend had been amazing and I couldn't wait to get to school to see the person who made that weekend so incredible. I didn't have to wait long because a honking horn surprised me in my driveway.

"Get in," he said, "I'm gonna be your ride to school today."

He smiled and without hesitation I got in his car and we raced down the street. After a few minutes of smiles and silence Jake grabbed my hand and went to say something but didn't.

"What's on your mind?" I asked

"Oh," he said, "It's nothing. I was just thinking."

Puzzled I asked, "What about?"

"What if we didn't go to school today?" he questioned

"I don't know..." I thought through the possibilities of my mom and dad finding out I took a "self-health" day from school just to hang out with Jake. Without anymore thought I responded.

"What are ya thinking?" I asked

"Just a ride." he said, " I don't know Chicago  very well, we could go site seeing or something." he hesitated, " Ya know it's a really stupid idea, let's just..."

"No, let's go," I said as I interrupted his thought,"I'd rather hang out with you all day then go to school anyways."

After my response, my phone buzzed from my purse, a message from Riley. I had received several of Riley and Dylan's "Where are you?" or "Are you with Jake?" messages that whole day, I ignored them. Was that the right thing for me to do? I would soon find out.

Jake pulled off to the side of the street and put the truck in park.

"What are you doing?" I asked

He looked at me and smiled, " You're driving, " he said.

A number one rule with guys; never mess with a guy and his truck, if he lets you drive, then you must be something special.
