The school bell rang throughout the building and students fled through every open doorway. Fall break was here and the cold November breeze flew through the trees. I quickly grabbed up my books in my arms and raced out the classroom only to meet up with Dylan and Riley at the front of the school.
"Hey Carly," screamed Dylan as he successfully got my attention just as he had attempted.
"Hey," I said, " Are you guys ready to head home?"
"You bet,"said Riley.
We headed around the corner and down the street. Everyday when we'd walk by there was always something that didn't feel quite right about that street. It was something as if we were being watched...or well more like the feeling of someone following us yet if you turned around, you'd see no one except for maybe the occasional neighbor's cat.
" Hey Carly, are you thinking about going to the Winter Formal?" asked Riley
I looked at her glad that she had brought up something other than just the creepiness of Harper Rd.
"I doubt it,"I said,"I'm not the dance going to type, plus that's not until December."I attempted to make an excuse as I said, " It'd probably too cold to go anyways. You know how I hate cold weather."
Riley shook her head and laughed as she continued skateboarding along beside Dylan and I.
"Excuses, Excuses," said Riley and I laughed, "If you don't want to go just say so Carly."
I smiled and we continued for our houses.
