After many disagreements and uncomfortable pushing toward the cars I finally settled on a car that was something I thought i'd only have in my dreams.
"Look Juliette I know you mean well, and I truly appreciate all you've done for me today." I said over dinner once we finally pulled back into the small town. "But I want you to know that I love you already, you're my sister...I guess I'm just trying to say that I don't want you to feel like you have to buy my love."
She sighed, "I know, and I promise that from here on out I will let you make your own way, and if it'll make you feel better then I have no objections to you paying your part of the phone bill as well as paying for your own gas and upkeep of the car."
It was decided, and I felt a little better.
"So you never finished telling me about Dorian." I pointed out.
She actually seemed taken her by surprise.
"What more is there to tell?"
I shrugged "I don't know, I just feel like he's such a huge part of your life and yet I hardly know very much about him...not to mention how big a part of this town he is, everyone knows him and he's basically a stranger to me."
She nodded, "okay, I get it." She seemed to think for a moment before pulling out her phone. "Sorry he doesn't really like taking pictures." She said as she continued to scroll, "oh here's one."
She handed the phone over, it was a picture of him and her, they were a good looking couple, their dark features complimented each other's, he was a good looking guy and even though it was a close up selfie of the two of them I could see the height difference.
"Is he older than you?" I asked as I handed the phone back.
She smiled and nodded, "he is....he's twenty-eight."
"Twenty-eight?!"
She laughed lightly as she tried to get me to calm down. "I know, I know...yes he's eight years older than me, but we just connect on a whole other level, besides, once your 18 you'll see that it's really only a number."
I couldn't fathom being with someone as old as Dorian is compared to Juliette, but then I remembered the picture and how perfect they seemed to be for one another, perhaps she was right, maybe age is just a number if you find someone who loves you unconditionally.
When we finished up I followed her back to the apartments and stopped by the leasing office so that Juliette could put me on her lease and the office manager gave me a parking sticker.
"Oh hey, I know you said I don't need permission or anything, but do you mind if I spend the night at Clem's place?"
She shook her head, "I don't mind, but remember that you are suppose to meet Dorian tomorrow so try not to stay out too late." She said, "do you need me to drop you off?"
"Nah, she text me her address so I'll drive over, plus it'll help me start getting use to the streets and stuff around town."
She nodded. "Well have fun and call me if you need anything...other than that I guess I'll see you tomorrow."
With my new keys in hand (including a key to the apartment) I set off to my room and packed a small overnight bag, including my pajamas, toiletries, and cellphone charger before I left the apartment.
