~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Layla's POV ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My face grew red as an apple when his lips contacted mine. Time seemed to stand still and the world began to fade into the background. My body was stiff for a moment. My mind was not able to process what was happening because it turned into gush. It was not exactly the solution I was expecting for warding away jealous sluts. I thought it would be more of running away kinda thing.
When I finally snapped out of the daze, I struggled to be free from the best thing that could happen to me. It only led to him sharply tugging me closer to him. I could feel the texture of his body against mine. My legs turned into jelly and I swore he was the only one holding me up or else I would have collapsed to the ground.
I struggled to stay conscious until the pursuers disappeared. I was unsure if I would not give him any retaliation after this.
He broke the kiss and smiled. I did not know how long the heavenly sensation lasted but it seemed too brief.
“They’re gone.” He said.
Hale stood a couple inches away from me and waited for my response.
“Hello? Hellllllo?” Hale said waving his hand in front of my face.
I was so stunned and off in La La Land before I could respond. I was in utter confusion. All those allergic reactions were not some sort of disease but rather held a deeper meaning. I was in love with this cocky jerk and I just shared my most blissful first kiss with him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hale’s POV ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I sighed. Seriously? This girl was not responding. She looked as if her soul drifted off somewhere else. I hoped she did not misunderstand and thought it was a real kiss. Just to be sure, I tapped her nose multiple times to wake her up. She blinked repeatedly as she came out of her trance and stared at me with an annoyed expression

“Was it your first kiss or something?” I asked.

She blushed immediately and nodded. I chuckled to myself and combed my bangs back with my fingers. Oh my god. This girl.

“No need to worry or be mad at me for stealing what your gender values so much. I’m sure you rather share it with some guy you like.”

I waved a gum wrapper in the air so she could see.

“This.” I said pointing at it with my free hand, “Was between our lips so it doesn’t really count. Be glad. Oh yeah. And that kiss does not count as a favor for me. I will contact you via phone and you need to answer it before the third ring or else you owe me another favor." I said matter-of-factly.

I could see she was disappointed for some reason but I payed no mind to it because it was not problem. She seemed to return to her unresponsive state so I just took out a pen that just was magically in my pocket and wrote my number on her arm and waved "good-bye" to her and walked off to an uncertain destination.

~~~~~~~~~~~~ Layla's POV ~~~~~~~~~~~
I watched Hale's back as he walked away from my view. My brain processed his words as an indirect rejection to my newly discovered love that was still perplexed and still unsure. Just when it was realized, it was squashed, KO, just like that. I didn't even notice that he wrote his number on my arm.
I could feel an imaginary dark cloud over me. It was probably raining and soon transformed into a thunder cloud. I looked up at the illusory cloud and frowned. Well my day was ruined. But just as bad thoughts entered my mind, I suddenly remembered the kiss I had and I blushed. I smiled at the scene as I imagined it in my head. It was the only thing that kept me from bursting into tears during the rest of the school day.
