Madison
I woke up early and decided to prepare the breakfast of the Newmans. I would love to sleep, but I need to work for them, and at least I have something to do.
Relina sees me.
"What are you doing here? You can go back to your room now" Relina said.
"It's my job, and I'm fine" I explained as I continue preparing the plates.
"Mrs. Newman gave an order, you are not going to work" she said.
"Why would she do that?" I asked.
"I don't know either, but if I were you I'll be back in my room" she said.
"Fine" I replied as I walk away.
I touched my tummy. I am already wondering if there's another life inside me. My baby, it's not my baby. It's the Newman's baby.
Mrs. Newman just appeared in front of me. I didn't notice her, because of my thinking.
"Madison, go back to your room. You should have longer sleep. I don't want my grandchild to be at risk" Mrs. Newman said.
"I still don't know if I'm pregnan.."
"Ssshh, just go back and sleep. I was expecting of an IVF, but you did something first" Mrs. Newman said.
I lay on my bed thinking of what could be my life right now if my Dad is still alive.
I would have been with my older sister, Margaret. My mom will not be like this, she would've been good.
It would have been the usual night since Dad died. Mom have been away spending each night in clubs drinking whatever alcohol her stomach needs.
She went home drunk and telling things that I don't want to hear.
But one night is the most different night,
I saw Margaret holding a big bag."Margaret! Where are you going?" I asked her.
"Ssshhh. I'm leaving" she said.
"I'm coming with you" I whispered.
"No Madison" she said.
"Why? I thought we will be together" I said.
"You can't come with me. We can't survive living together. I didn't want you to be hungry and experience a lot of hardships" she explained.
I started crying knowing that maybe this is the last time I will see her.
"How about me and mommy?" I asked.
"Madison, I can't tell you everything I feel because you won't understand it now. But I'm sure I will be fine once I left" she said.
"I will be fine once I left" it repeats inside my head.

CharlesIn Charles Newman's Office
Xavier left again without passing the quarterly report I needed. He is damn lucky he's my friend, I would have fired him earlier if I don't know him well.
My cousin, Robinson came inside my office.
"Cousin! You look bothered" he said.
"Xavier left without even passing the quarterly report" I said.
"I don't know what he's doing, that guy is completely a mystery" Robinson said.
Robinson stared on the painting posted on my wall.
"Is that Heather's?" he asked.
"Yeah" I replied.
To be honest, she just wanted to throw away her trash. She just forced me to have her painting posted.
"I just remembered her reaction when she discovered you were dating Helen" Robinson said.
Heather was the girl I really liked since we were young. I like how perfect she is. But it all changed when I met Helen. Helen knows she's not perfect but she knows how to make every moment perfect.
"Remember Heather went to Greece just to move on and forget what happened?" Robinson continued.
I didn't mean to hurt her. It's just that I love Helen since the day I first saw her. It's different that I can risk everything.
Heather and I must've been engaged if Helen didn't come.
"She's my best friend now" I replied to Robinson.
"You can try to make things work again. Besides Helen's gone, Heather's boy friend died" Robinson suggested.
"No need" I replied.
"Is this about Helen again and again?" he asked.
"No"
"Then who?" he asked.
I just don't want to be in touch with someone since my business with Madison Baker isn't done yet.
Once she knew she's pregnant, it would be a bigger challenge.
"Are you seeing anyone?" Robinson asked.
"Yes. No!" I said.
"I think you are, that last time you're like that is with Helen" Robinson teased.
"I am thinking of 'no', but I just said yes. It's confusing sometimes" I replied.
"Charlie, it's fine to date again. I'm happy for you" he said, then he leaves.
I am not really dating anyone. I am not seeing anyone. Do I look like I'm seeing anyone?
--------
That evening, I can't sleep. So I decided to get my cigarettes. I feel like I need to smoke for a bit. I grab my cigarette from my drawer and headed downstairs.
I saw Madison using the phone. I didn't move for a while and looked at her as she attempts to call a number again and again.
She looks sad and worried.
She finally ended trying to call and look at my direction.
"Sir" she said.
"Are you trying to call your mother?" I asked her. She stayed silent for awhile.
"Yes, but she's not picking it up" she replied.
"Are you aright?" I asked her. Why am I asking her that? Do I care? I definitely care.
"Yesss... is that cigarette?" she asked.
I hid the cigarette behind my back. "No, it's not" I replied.
"You don't seem to be the kind of person to smoke" she said.
I finally took it out and showed it to her so she can see it. It is a Gurkha Black Dragon, an expensive cigar.
I walk closer to her to make her see.
"This is a Gurkha Black Dragon, I smoke it when I couldn't sleep" I told her.
"I don't know anything about cigars, but can I try?" she replied.
"No" I said to her.
"I'm just kidding, I know that's expensive you can't just give me one" she replied.
"I wasn't thinking about the price, but I don't want you to smoke" I said. That's a sentence that seems I care for her. Yeah I care, I care a lot, even if I should not.
She didn't respond.
"Then don't smoke too" she said. It sounded like she cares for me too. No, I should not think of this that way.
"I bet it smells awful" she continued. Yeah, it's not what I think, she doesn't care for me that much.
"Go back to sleep" I said to her. "you too" she responded and smiled.
