15 - Stolen Kiss

CHARLES

I woke up from the sound of my alarm, it's already 6:00 am, just another day to go to work. I wish I can stay here again, I wish I can stay home just like yesterday. But I have an Elmyra to run.

Madison also wakes up. She moved a bit to stretch her legs and arms.

"Sleep more" I said to her. She just nods then closed her eyes again. She probably feels tired always, since the baby's growing inside her.

I went to the shower. I feel really good, which I want. I'm just thinking about my child, my son. What's his name gonna be?
It can be Max? Ryan? Mike? There are endless list of names, and choosing would be hard.

Maybe I should ask Madison to choose, at least let her choose a name, right?

I got dressed, wore that perfume my mother picked for me. She hasn't called me for some time, I wonder what's keeping her busy this long.

I went to the bedroom again and saw Madison already sitting on the bedside.

"You can sleep as long as you want, it's alright" I spoke. She looks at me.

"I'm hungry already, but I'm too tired to walk downstairs" she said.

"I'll get you some food" I said.

"No, no, no" she said.

"Wait, i'll ---" I was about to say something when she interrupted me.

"I can do it, you don't have to bring me food here, you're my boss" she said. Her eyes widened while saying that.

"It's fine," I said. I laughed at her reaction she looks funny when she looks embarrassed.

"I'm just pregnant, I'm not sick" she replied.

"Just let me do it, okay?" I replied and left her for awhile.

"Good morning, Sir" Relina said.

"Can you prepare a breakfast?" I asked her.

"Of course, sir" she replied.

She prepared a meal.

"Here sir" she said.

"Put it in a tray" I replied then she did so.

"Thank you" I replied as I carried it.

I went upstairs to my room and Madison is still sitting at the bedside.

"Here" I said. She moved a bit and started eating.

"By the way, my friend Luke is coming over. I just want you to know that" she spoke.

"Okay" I replied.

"I should go now" I added. I left her eating.

"Have a nice day" she spoke. I know I would very much have a nice day.

MADISON

Later that day, Luke came over. He told me yesterday that he has something to tell me.

"Well, you told me after you give birth you'll be leaving here" he said. I told him before that it's my way to repay the kindness the Newman gave.

"Yes, they'll pay me too" I replied.

"Once you're done here, I want us to get married" Luke said. He wants to marry me?

"Since we were kids, I've always loved you. I've always cared for you" Luke continued. It is true, he is my dearest friend who never left me even if I had a very difficult life to live.

"I know a place in South Carolina, we will live there. I will make you happy there, I promise." Luke said. He looks at me, convincing me to do say yes.

"What about your family?" i asked him.

"John's there, we need to go away from them. I don't want John to hurt you again." he said.

Luke definitely saved me from John. And going away with him seems right. I surely needed to live a life away from my child and Charles soon.

"I'll think about it Luke, I just have to think of what I want to do after this. I will definitely tell you" I replied.

"That's right. I'll be waiting for an answer." he said.

I'm out of words to say that time. I just have to absorb it. The future ahead is still not clear, and so I have to choose for myself.

Of course, I wanted to never come back to my old town. Where people look down on me and my mom. And mom, I don't have anything to do with her now since she drowned herself to alcohol.

"I must go now, think about it" Luke said. He then kissed me.

"I've always wanted to do that" he said before he left.

I wasn't able to say anything, I just watch him leave.

I wouldn't tell Charles about it. He is not a part of my future anyway.
