14 - Different Day

CHARLES

I woke up late, I didn't wake up from the sound of the alarm and so did Madison. I watched her sleep, I watched the way she breathes. She looks beautiful not doing anything, just being her.

My phone rings. It's Dylan, he must have been looking for me.

I answered the call. "Sir, where are you?" he asked.

"I'm home, I'm not going to work today" I replied.

"Okay sir" he replied.

"You can also take the day off" I said to him.

"Thank you Sir" he replied. I can feel how grateful he is for taking a day off. Dylan has been working hard for me for the past years. I really trust him with everything and I know that he is happy to work for me too.

Finally, Madison wakes up.

"Oh, it's late already" she said.

"I over slept too" I said. She smiled and rises from the bed.

"I should be making breakfast" she said.

"That sounds good" I said.

I followed her to the kitchen where we see no sign of Relina.

"She must be at the grocery store" Madison spoke while starting making pancakes.

"Oh yes," I replied while watching her.

I can't help but notice her growing belly.

"Let's go to the doctor today" I said.

"Why?" she asked.

"Let's find out what's the baby's gender" I replied.

"Ohh" she said.

We eat pancakes. It was a nice new day, not like the other days where I feel down. I feel better, I wonder if Madison did it again. That thing that lifts my spirit from the depths of sorrow.

MADISON

He looks happy now. I bet he had a nice sleep. He said we will go to the doctor today, because he wants to know what the gender of the baby is. It made me happy knowing that he shows love for the baby. I know when I left, the baby will be in good hands.

I did an ultrasound.

"Congratulations, it's a boy!" The doctor said.

I smiled and didn't say a word. My baby's a boy.

"Thank you Doc" I heard Charles said.

After it, we headed in a restaurant close to where Luke works.

"Luke works there, can I do see him?" I said to Charles.

"Okay" he said.

I left him for awhile. I hope that I can say hi to Luke.

And I saw him waiting tables.

"Luke!" I called him, not so loud to caught attention.

"Hey!" He said.

He comes to me.

"You know what, a few days ago I saw someone who looks like you" he said.

It must be Helen.

"Really? I thought I am unique" I said.

"Yeah, she really looks like you, I actually called her and talked to her like she was you" he replied.

"Oh, well I just dropped by to say Hi" I said.

"Okay, we'll go out some time, I have something to tell you" he said.

"Okay, bye!" I said then left.

Helen is just around. I should not tell this one to Charles, he looks better now. I don't want to ruin it yet.

"What are you thinking?" Charles asked.

"Nothing, I just thought I haven't seen Luke for days" I replied.

We ate in a fancy restaurant just a few walks from where Luke works

"Eat well" Charles said. I will definitely eat well because it's my first time here and probably the last.

I wonder whether I will tell him now or tomorrow or not at all. He deserves to know it, but I just don't want to see him at his worst again.

After that, we headed home.

"Sleep with me again" Charles said. I stopped a bit. I am surprised to hear it.

"Okay" I replied.

The more we get closer the more I feel guilty about not sharing what Luke said.
Sleeping next to him again tonight completely bothers me.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

"Yes, I just can't believe we already know he's a boy" I replied.

"Me too, should we pick a name?" He asked.

"It's up to you" I said.

"Well, let's just sleep for now" he said.

Charles really looks happy. I hope he stays this way. And I don't know why I care so much about him. I don't want to get too attached, because I'll be leaving soon.
