" calling out for somebody to hold tonight "

jade was still running. she lived not too far from perrie, but she wanted to get there as soon as possible.

perrie was the one who suggested to jade that she should come out to her parents. perrie said that she was going to have to come out sometime and they were going to have to accept it, so why not now?

jade didn't blame perrie for what just happened. perrie only wanted for them both to be able to be a couple without being held back which jade could understand. it wasn't fair that all the times perrie came over to jade's house, perrie wasn't allowed to kiss her even on the cheek.

it was all her parent's fault. why couldn't they just accept the fact that she was a lesbian? it really isn't that big of a deal, she likes the same gender, big whoop. but, jade's parents were just stubborn like that. when they believed something to be a certain way, they stuck with it. jade had not realized this until a couple of years ago. after understanding how truly stubborn her parents were, she didn't blame her older brother for moving out as soon as he was eighteen.

jade barely saw her brother anymore, who was now twenty. sure, jade and her brother would see each other at family parties and such, but it was sad to her. she used to have a great bond with her and her brother, in fact, he was one of the first to know about her being a lesbian, and he completely supported her.

sure, there were moments when they fought and didn't get along, but there were always those special moments when they would get along great. and even when they weren't exactly getting along great at the moment, jade was still able to go to him to talk about something.

jade remembers the day she came out to her brother specifically. it was the first day she realized that it was truly okay to be lesbian.

"tyler, are you in here?" jade whispered through the crack of her brother's door, a bit of light from the hallway shining into the dark room.

jade heard her brother clicked the light on in his room and heard him sit up. this was her cue to walk into her brother's room, which she did.

"what do you need jade, I'm trying to sleep?" her brother had asked.

"when did you realize you liked girls?" jade's had asked after she sat down on her brother's bed next to him.

"well, I was young when I started having crushes on girls in my grade, and then it just developed into dating girls when I was older," he answered.

"was there ever a time, when, you liked someone the same gender as you?" jade asked quietly.

"not that I can remember, sure there's probably been times where I saw a guy and was like 'damn, he's got muscles' or 'he's hot' but no crushes or anything on guys," tyler answered jade's question again. "what's all this about?"

"well um, I think, I.." jade started, her breathing starting to get quicker. tears started to prick at her eyes and thoughts of how her brother was going to react flooded her mind.

he's going to get mad and tell mom and dad, then they're going to kick me out and I'll have nothing oh my god I can't do this I can't-

"you're a lesbian, is what you're trying to tell me?" he asked with a soft expression on his face.

jade paused, her mouth hung open before she spoke up again.

"how.. how did you know?" jade asked, confused.

"well, I've had my suspicions because of the way you just look at girls, and you've never had any crushes on guys at school, and after all these questions you've asked me, I pieced it all together," he explained with a smile. "which is great."
