"Alright ladies. Good morning." My boss said to all of us. I work at Kleinfeld Bridal in Manhattan. "So, today. Regina, your bride is very sweet. But, she's bringing her fiancé. So, it'll be a little different." She said. I nodded and tuned the rest of her spiel out.

"Hi! You must be Emma." I said to the blonde sitting in a chair. She smiled. "Yes." She said, smiling. I nodded. "I'm Regina and I'll be helping you today. Who'd you bring with you?" I asked, glancing at the people. She started introducing people to me. "This is my fiancé, Killian." She said with a forced smile that didn't reach her eyes. "Then my maid of honor, Mary Margret." She said and pointed to the small brunette with a pixie cut. "And my best friend Ruby." She said, pointing to a brunette with long hair and red streaks. Where are her parents? "Alright. Well, why don't we go start shopping." I said. She smiled a real smile and nodded. I smiled and we got up, going to the back of the store. We went into a dressing room and sat down. "So, let's talk about the wedding. Tell me about Killian." I said, seeing her cringe a little at his name. "I... He's..." She started but stopped, biting her lip. "Or... We can talk about something else? Tell me about you." I said. She nodded. "Uh... Well, I'm 26. My parents both died when I was 24.. They both really wanted me to be with Killian and now... I feel like I have to be with him. And honestly.. I don't. I've never really been attracted to guys. But when my parents died.. They were my entire family. They were all I had. And I feel like I have to marry him now. But they didn't know... H-he's an alcoholic and h-he makes me do things I don't want to do. I just... I don't know how to break it off. And I just... I'm scared of him." She said, her voice cracking and tears falling from her eyes. I set my clipboard down and moved, pulling her into my arms. She sobbed against my chest and I held her tight. I don't know what it is about this girl. But gods. She's amazing and deserves so much more than that jerk. "Emma, you need to end it. You need to get help. This isn't safe." I said, leaning my head on hers. "I know." She cried, holding onto me. "I just don't have anywhere else to go." She cried. "Emma, if you need somewhere to stay for a few days, you can stay with me. Okay? You deserve so much better than being treated like that." I said. She looked at me and nodded, gently. "I'm so sorry." I whispered. She nodded against my chest and I held onto her. "How do I go about breaking up with him? I-I can't do it here.. Can I?" She asked. I nodded. "Yes. And then you have No reason to leave with him. So he wouldn't be able to hurt you because then he'll have no idea where you're going." I said. She nodded. "R-Regina... I don't know why I told you any of this.. But something about you just made me feel... I don't know... Special." She mumbled. I furrowed my eyebrows. "You make me feel safe." She mumbled. I smiled. "Strangely, you make me feel safe too." I said. She looked up at me and bit her lip. We both leaned in but she stopped herself before our lips met and she shook her head. "I.. I have to go break up with him." She mumbled. I nodded and we both got up, then went back out. "K-Killian. We need to talk." Emma said. He nodded and got up, following Emma. The girls looked at me and looked nervous. "Uh.. We don't like him if you can't tell." Ruby said. I nodded. "It's apparently warranted. Emma told me some stuff about him and he seems like a jerk." I said. They nodded. "He is a jerk. But she felt like she had to be with him after her parents died." Mary Margret said. I nodded.

After 20 minutes, Emma came back in with tears and blood trickling down her face. "Emma!" I shouted, dropping my clipboard and running to her, pulling her into my arms. Several people watched, but I didn't care. "Oh gods, Emma. are you okay?" I asked. She sobbed against my chest and I held her tight. She held onto me as well and I ran my fingers through her hair. "Shh. It's okay. It's going to be okay." I whispered. "Is everything okay over here?" Randy, one of my bosses, asked and came over. I shook my head. "I need to take the rest of the day off." I said. He nodded. "Is there anything I can get for you?" Randy asked, putting a hand on the small of Emma's back. She shook her head and wrapped her arms tighter around me. "Shh. Let's go." I mumbled as a sob ripped from her throat. She nodded and Mary Margret and Ruby left after speaking to Emma. We walked through the store and to the employees only section. Several of my coworkers watched as I walked Emma to the bathroom. She leaned against the sink and I grabbed a paper towel, running it under some warm water. I gently wiped the blood off of Emma's face and I examined the cut and bruise forming on her right cheek. "Emma, I don't want you seeing him again." I said, sternly. She nodded, falling back into my arms and holding me tight. "T-thank you Regina. W-without you, I'd still be with him. And I don't know what would've happened because he... He scares me. And he said he wouldn't bother me anymore. But like I said.. He scares me." She said. I nodded, rubbing her back, gently. "Well, any man who hits a woman loses all respect from me." I said. She nodded against my shoulder and I kissed her head, lightly. "Come on. Let's go." I said. She nodded. "R-Regina... I don't want to go home. What if he finds me? What if her gets drunk and-" "I will not let that happen. Okay? You're going to stay with me. He won't find you." I said, cutting her off. She smiled a little and looked at my lips. "C-can I please try something? Just this once?" She asked, her voice cracking. "Please do." I mumbled. She leaned in and connected our lips. Talk about sparks. We pulled away and she smiled. "Y-you're good at that." She said, gently. I smiled. "I'm good at a lot of things." I whispered, smiling. She smiled and we left the bathroom. I grabbed my stuff before ushering Emma out of the back. We left the store and I took Emma to my car. She got in and then I walked around to the other side. "Can we go by mine and Killian's place and get some of my stuff?" She asked, gently. I nodded. "Tell me where to go."
----------------------------
Almost a year and a half later, Emma was completely moved into my place and living with me. "Babbeeeeee." She whined. I smiled. Did I forget to mention that she's my girlfriend now? "What, dear?" I asked and looked at her pouty face. "I love you." She said in an adorable voice. I smiled and nodded. "No, really. I love you." She said in the same voice. I smiled again. "I love you too." I said back. She smiled and leaned in, giving me a peck on the lips. Then, we heard crying. "I got him." I said, giving her a kiss. She nodded. Emma was 2 months pregnant when she came to Kleinfeld. She didn't know.  She had our little boy almost 9 months ago. "Hey my little prince." I said and walked into his room. I looked over the railing of the crib and he stopped crying. I smiled. "Oh, my little Henry. Come here." I said and picked him up in my arms. He gurgled happily and I smiled. "Wanna go see momma?" I asked in a baby voice. He smiled, causing me to smile. "Come on baby." I said and kissed his head. I went back downstairs and sat down on the couch beside Emma. She smiled. "My two favorite people." She said and kissed both of us. I smiled and she wrapped her arm around me. "See this. This is my dream family. Our perfect family." She said. I smiled and nuzzled closer to her before humming my agreement. This is our perfect family.
