Lani POV

I woke up with a text from Cookie saying "Empire at 1:30. You better be there."

I text her back saying "I'll be there."

then got up out of bed and immediately got ready. This is a big ass deal for me...  A lil girl from the bottom living on the streets now making my way to the top at Empire. I can't mess this shit up in any way. I took my shower then did my hygiene routine and straightened my hair.  After getting dressed (Media 1) I grabbed my phone, ran downstairs and grabbed my grape Arizona then drove to Empire. 1:25 already. I walked in Empire, confident as fuck. Can't let these people think i'm weak cause I am nothing of the sort. I called Cookie and after 3 rings she answered

"Hey baby, you here?"

"Yeah, i'm at the front but I don't know where to go from here."

"Aight i'll be down there in a second."

"Aight, I'l see you"

We ended the call then about 30 seconds later, Cookie was running up to me.

"Follow me baby"

we walked down a hall then turned into a room. A studio. and damn, I'm used to recording in people's basements. This is crazy. As we walked farther into the room, I noticed Jamal sitting on a couch.

"Nice to see you again Kehlani." he said as he walked over to hug me

"So you two have met before?"

"Yeah, we met the other day after the meeting." I replied

"Well damn, ruined my surprise." we laughed then cookie pushed me into the booth.she pushed a button then said

"Do you have a song for me today?"

"Yeah but um.. I don't have a beat or a tempo."

"That's Jamal's job, Jamal get on that"

"Aight, Imma give you a beat, just tell me if you like it."

He played the beat and I replied with "I love it"

Cookie smiled then said "Lets get it going then"

The beat started then came the Lyrics (Media)
