Jenni's POV
My first day of school went pretty well I guess. I didn't end up late like I thought I would. I learned that I have at least two classes with Marty and surprisingly one with Jennifer. My classes with Marty are spanish, second period, and history, last period. The one class I have with Jennifer is chemistry. Which just so happens to be in between the classes that I have with him. Right now I'm in my final class of the day with Marty.
Near the end of history, Marty passes me a note saying that he's gonna come to my house this time to hang out. I smile and replay back. "Okay." I pass it back to him and he reads when no one's looking. He turns to me and smiles with a nod of his head.
After class, we say our goodbyes before going in separate directions. Knowing him he's probably gone off to be with Jennifer. I shake my head. I don't need to worry myself with her. I need to worry about my friendship with him more.
I went home and walked through the door then to my room to start my homework. Yes they started the first day with homework. Ugh, this sucks. But at least it's nothing too hard. All I really have to do is fill out some sheets and an intro paper for spanish in our work book. I finish everything within the two hours that I'm home from school.
I go into the kitchen to grab a granola bar or two. As I tear off the paper of one, I hear the sound of a truck pull into the driveway. It must be Marty. I try not to act all giddy and excited. Instead, I stay in the kitchen pretending I didn't hear the vehicle. I hear him knock on the front door. I impatiently wait another knock before going and opening the door.
When I pretend I didn't hear it, I hear my mom calling from the living room. "Jenni, is someone at the door?" Shit, I better not wait for a third knock. One, I might piss my parents off, and two, he might leave thinking I don't want to see him. Of course I want to see him. I just don't want to make it like I'm too excited or anything.
I open the door and see his adorable boyish smile. Man, why am I falling for a boy that's already taken? I smile back at him, getting lost in his ocean blue eyes. "Can I come in now?" I look at him dumbfounded before completely realizing what he just said. I start to blush. "Oh oops, I'm so sorry. Yeah, of course." I let him pass by me then led him to the living room to meet my parents. "Hey mom, dad. I'd like you to meet someone." I smile awkwardly. They turn to see Marty and I in the doorway. "Hi." He gives a quick wave of his hand. Nervousness was written all over his face. "Who's this Jen?" My dad pipes up first. Of course he would. "This is Marty. I met him on Friday when I went to the local arcade." I explain. "Marty Mcfly? As in the son of George Mcfly?" My dad asks with a serious expression on his face. Uh oh.
I really hope my parents like him. I think I'm starting to like him a lot more than I should. If something were to happen that we got together, course I'm not saying that we will, I'd like my parents to at least think good of him. "Um yeah, why?" Marty answers for me. "That man. Awe that man." My dad pauses. Oh no. Please, please be something good. "He's a great coworker and friend. I hope you treat my daughter just the same." He smiles at the end. Phew, glad he approves. Marty seems to relax a little more.
I look to my mom for a silent blessing. She smiles back at me warmly. Mom looks to dad, Marty, and then back at me. "Well, your father and I have to go get something for dinner." She says starting to get up off the couch. I see her glance over at Marty. "Marty, are you staying for dinner?" Mom asks sweetly. He starts to blush a little. "Um, I would love to, but I have to help my mom out with dinner tonight." He answers apologetically. "Awe, that's sweet of you Marty. I understand. Any time you want to stay for dinner just let us know. We'll be happy to have you." My mom smiles warmly at him like she does me. That's a good sign. "We'll see you later Marty. Tell your father I said hello." My dad says as he and mom walk to the front door to leave. "I will." Marty smiles. They wave back at us then they're gone.
