When you walked into the house, you were a bit spooked out by how quiet it was. Usually Zayn would have a few friends over, drinking and watching a game.
"Zayn?!" You called out, setting your purse on the counter. You knew he was home cause his car was parked out front."Zayn this isn't funny!" You shout as you cautiously walked up the stairs. "You know what if he tries to scare me." You mumble to yourself as you took off your shoe. You were going to hit him with it, if he tried to jump out and scare you. You expected him to come out once you made it to the last step, but he didn't. You walked down the hall, turning on the lights as you went.
"Zayn?" You pushed open the bedroom door. You stood there frozen as a loud ear splitting scream escaped your mouth. "Zayn!" You ran to his side. A bullet wound to his head. You were crying hysterically as you held him. You pulled the gun from his hand, throwing it onto the floor. "Why?! Why?! Why?!" You cried rocking him. As you cried you heard a small groan. It was barely noticeable.
"Zayn?" You whispered looking down at him. Suddenly it clicked to you, there could be a small chance he was still alive. You jumped up and ran downstairs to your phone. You called 911, reporting what happened. When EMT arrived they had confirmed he did indeed have a pulse and was still alive. You wanted to jump for joy but knew it was too soon to be celebrating. At arrival at the hospital, the doctors took him in for surgery. In the meantime you called all his relatives, friends, your family and friends. They all arrived at the hospital, praying for Zayn's recovery.
It seemed like years that Zayn had been in the operating room.
"Mrs. Malik?" You stood up with Zayn's mother waiting to hear either good news or bad news.
"How is he?" You questioned, searching the surgeons face.
"We managed to retrieve the bullet, it was a miracle he was still alive. The bullet was logged in the left hemisphere of the brain. Now although he survived this, it is going to be a long road to recovery." He tells you. All those things didn't matter to you, you just wanted to see him.
"Can we see him now?" You ask. The doctor shakes his head sadly.
"No, I'm afraid that there will be no visitation for Mr. Malik until morning." You frown when he finishes speaking. You his Zayn's mom.
"Thank god he's still here. I don't know what I would do without him."
