Chapter 3: Evolve!

Along our way to the Rustboro City to get my first gym badge. We are now in Petalburg Woods and at the end of it, you will see the Rustboro City. We spotted a Tailow on the way. I decided to catch it so I sent out Treeko.

"Treeko use pound!" I yelled. Treeko darted towards Tailow and swinged his tail and it hit Tailow.

Tailow's wings glowed, looks like a wing attack. Treeko wasn't able to dodge Tailow's wings when it charged towards him. Treeko splattered and fell down.

"Get up and use bullet seed." I instructed. Treeko got on his feet and did a bullet seed. Not effective but it did damage to Tailow. I threw a pokeball at it.

Tailow was forced to go inside the pokeball. We looked at the pokeball intently as it shook once, then twice and Tailow went out from the pokeball.

"Not enough." I mumbled.

"You can do it!" Seira cheered.

Yeah, I still have a chance. "Treeko, quick attack and this time, give everything you've got!" and with so much determination in his eyes, Treeko hit Tailow with a quick attack.

Tailow fell down. I threw a pokeball once more. Shook once, then twice and thrice, finally the 'ting' sound and the pokeball stopped shaking. I threw my hands up in the air and ran to get the pokeball. I smiled. The first ever pokemon I have ever caught.

Then, a strange looking boy in purple shirt showed up. Holding a great ball on his right hand. Wearing a pokeball cap and has a black hair.

"So, you're the guy Mezzle is talking about." he muttered.

"What the heck are you saying?" I asked. I don't know what he's saying for pete's sake!

He smirked. "I'm a member of team Shadow!" he shouted as he threw the great ball into the air, releasing a bird - like pokemon, a Staravia! A pokemon mostly seen in Sinnoh region.

"It's payback time." he smiled playfully.

I sent out my Treeko to fight against his Staravia. Treeko has many experiences in battle than my newly caught Tailow. That's why I decided to choose him.

"Treeko, bullet seed." Treeko performed a bullet seed.

"Gust Staravia." The boy in purple shirt calmly said. And his Staravia flapped its wings and a strong breeze of wind came deflecting my Treeko's bullet seed. Treeko was being pushed back by the strong breeze.

"Use wing attack next!" Staravia's wings glowed and it darted towards Treeko. Treeko hasn't recovered from the gust yet so Staravia's wing attack hit him hard.

"Treeko!" I yelped as Treeko fell down.

"This is the end for your Treeko." the boy said. "Wing attack once more."

"Don't give up Treeko!" I yelled and Treeko was determined to get up and he started to glow.

His whole body is glowing an Staravia stopped from his tracks. A long leaf started to grow from Treeko's head and his tail turned into leaves. There are leaves that appeared in both of his arms and he grew taller.

"Grovyle." It chirped. My Treeko evolved into Grovyle!

"Treeko evolved!" Seira was amazed on Treeko's new appearance.

"Lets see, Grovyle, use leaf blade." I commanded. The leaves in Grovyle's arms glowed and lengthen. Grovyle darted forward to Staravia.

"Don't back down. Wing attack Staravia!" the boy yelled. And Staravia's wings glowed once more as it charges towards Grovyle.

Grovyle's leaf blade and Staravia's wings collided. Grovyle deflected Staravia's wing using his right arm and with his left, he struck down Staravia. Staravia crashed to the land. Grovyle is amazing.

"Quick Grovyle, another leaf blade!" I yelped as Staravia is slowly standing.

Grovyle darted forward as the leaves in his arms glow once more and lengthen. Staravia got back on his feet but he was caught off guard. Grovyle was able to make a solid hit with leaf blade. Staravia fell down and there's no way he's getting back up again.

"What a useless pokemon!" the boy's eyes were full of anger and disappointment.

"Shinn is my name." he muttered. "And remember it well Rave, cause I will get my revenge on you." he added as he left, abandoning his poor Staravia.

"We can't leave him like this." Seira's voice was full of concern.

"Yeah, we better get him to a pokemon center." I said. "Grovyle, can you carry him?" I looked at Grovyle to see his answer.

"Grov." he nodded and carried Staravia on his back.

We ran as fast as we can to get out of here in Petalburg Woods and reach Rustboro City where we can get help for Staravia's condition. Curse that Shinn guy. Abandoning his pokemon like he was nothing for him. He should've treated his pokemon better. He should treasure them and treat them as a friend, not just an instrument for fighting.
