Chapter 8: Second Badge

I woke up early. I didn't saw Seira at the lobby so she's probably sleeping up until now. I went outside and threw out a pokeball in where Tailow came out.

"Lets have some practice." I said. Tailow chirped in response.

I practiced some of Tailow's moves like Wing attack, peck, quick attack, agility, etc. While we're busy, I heard a clap coming from behind and I immediately turned around to look at the one who clapped. And there I saw a familiar face. It was Dan, Alexa's companion.

"Nice moves. How about we test them in battle?" he suggested.

"I won't back down from a challenge." I answered.

"Okay, this will be just a one on one battle." he muttered. I nodded in agreement.

"Lets go," Dan threw a pokeball, "Growlithe!" And a dog like pokemon with red and yellow fur came out.

"Growlithe." he barked.

"Go Tailow!" And Tailow advanced, ready to fight.

"Growlithe, use flame wheel!" flames covered Growlithe and then he charged towards Tailow.

"Dodge it and use wing attack!" Tailow was able to dodge Growlithe's flame wheel. And delivered a wing attack. Growlithe roared in pain.

"Growlithe use ember." Dan commanded and bullet like flames came out from Growlithe's mouth and those flames hit Tailow.

"Tailow, fight back with peck!" Tailow's beak glowed and he flew towards Growlithe.

"Growlithe, charge forward and use flame wheel." again, covered in flames, Growlithe charged. The collision between Tailow's peck and Growlithe's flame wheel made an explosion. Both pokemons are hurt.

"Come on, lets finish this off with wing attack!" I yelled.

"End this with fire fang!" Growlithe's fangs were covered in flames and he darted forward and have made it in front of Tailow so fast.

Growlithe and Tailow's attack was cut off when we heard someone screamed, "Dan!"

Then Alexa came running and stopped to catch her breath. "I thought you're just going to get something?" she asked and her forehead creased, she looks pissed off.

"Sorry." Dan apologized. "It just happened that I saw Rave training with his Tailow and I got thrilled so I challenged them in a battle." he explained.

"The ferry is leaving. We have to go NOW." emphasizing the word now. Well, she's really strict.

"Okay okay. Calm down will ya." he murmured.

"Rave, I'm sorry that our battle was cut short." he said also looking disappointed that we didn't finish our battle. "But I'll make it up to you. I'll be waiting for you in Slateport City. Lets have another battle and I we will finish what we've started." then he turned around and walked, going to the fort where the ferry is.

"Sorry, Rave." Alexa said and did a peace sign and followed Dan.

I went back to the Pokemon center to heal my pokemon and there I saw Seira. Finally! She's awake.

"Good morning Rave." she greeted as she stretched her arms.

"Good morning Seira." I greeted back.

When my pokemons were healed, we rushed to the Pokemon Gym. We went inside and saw Brawly training with other pokemon trainers then he saw me and he waved his hand.

"This match is a two on two battle. Let the battle begin. Only the challenger can switch his pokemon." the judge announced.

"Lets go, Tailow!" I shouted as I threw a pokeball and from it, the tiny swallow pokemon came out.

"Go Machop!" Brawly said and sent out the superpower pokemon.

"Tailow, start off with peck." I said and his beak started to glow as he darted towards Machop.

"Use karate chop." Brawly instructed and Machop's hand glowed.

Tailow was able to land his attack and Machop cannot deliver his. It was a direct hit. Flying attacks are really effective against fighting type pokemon.

"Machop, mega punch!" Machop's fist glowed as he ran going to Tailow.

"Tailow, use quick attack!" I yelled and again, because Tailow was faster than Machop, he hit him first. Machop fell down.

"Get up Machop!" Brawly's not giving up and so as his pokemon. Slowly, Machop was getting on his feet.

"Don't let him recover, use wing attack!" I muttered and Tailow's wings glowed as he dashed towards Machop.

"Machop, use endure!" and Machop stood its ground surrounded by an aura.

Tailow was able to land the wing attack but Machop didn't fainted. What the heck?! That should do it.

"Rave, endure enables the pokemon to withstand an attack. That's the reason why Machop is still on his feet." Seira explained.

"Go Tailow, another wing attack!" and once again wit his glowing wings, he was able to took down Machop.

"Machop is unable to battle, Tailow is the winner." the judge announced.

"Lets go Makuhita!" Brawly sent out the guts pokemon. "Use thrash!"

And Tailow was hit three consecutive times. In just one attack, my Tailow fainted. His Makuhita is pretty strong. I sent out   my last resort, Grovyle.

"Grovyle, lets win this." I murmured.

"Grovyle!" looks like he's fired up.

"Grovyle, use bullet seed." I commanded and Grovyle shot bullet like seeds.

"Makuhita dodge that and use thrash." Makuhita was able to dodge Grovyle's bullet seed and deliver the thrash three consecutive times.

"Don't give up!" I yelled. "Use leaf blade!" and the leaves in his arms glowed and started to become blades. Grovyle struck down Makuhita with his leaf blade.

"Makuhita, another thrash." Brawly instructed. But Makuhita was confused and he didn't obeyed his trainer's instruction.

"Finish this with leaf blade!" and that ended the match. Makuhita fell down when he was slashed by Grovyle's leaf blade.

"Makuhita is unable to battle. Therefore, the winner is Rave from Littleroot town." the judge declared.

"Rave, you deserve this knuckle badge. Move forward and attain your goal. Be the pokemon league champion." these were Brawly's words as he handed the knuckle badge to Rave.

Seira congratulated him and the audience clapped to remark the two trainers great performance. After treating Rave's pokemon at the Pokemon center, they immediately went aboard the ferry, heading their way into Slateport city where a friend waits and a battle to finish.
