Chapter 5: First gym battle

It's Roxanne's Geodude versus my Tailow. This would be a tough battle. Geodude is a rock type pokemon, one of Tailow's weaknesses.

"Geodude use rock throw." Roxanne said and Geodude started throwing rocks towards my Tailow. Tailow was able to dodge every rock he throws.

"Impressive." Roxanne was impressed.

"Tailow, use wing attack!" I commanded. And Tailow's wings glowed and it hit Geodude with it. But it's not very effective though.

"Your Tailow's attacks are not effective against my Geodude which is a rock type pokemon. Challengers can switch their pokemon during battle." she gave some tips. But I won't switch pokemon. I have faith in Tailow.

"Tailow, quick attack." I said.

"Rock Tomb to counter it." Geodude began to throw rocks on Tailow's path which made him stop. "Now, rock throw." and Geodude threw rocks towards Tailow and it was a direct hit.

Tailow went down to the ground. That was a very effective attack. I didn't know gym battles would be this hard.

"Tailow is unable to battle. Geodude is the winner." the judge announced.

I returned Tailow to its pokeball. I threw Grovyle's pokeball and he did a spin before landing to the ground.

"Ow, you already have an evolved pokemon." the gym leader said.

"Lets go Grovyle!" I yelled. "Use bullet seed." Grovyle performed a bullet seed.

"Defense curl!" Roxanne shouted. Geodude curled himself up to protect himself from the bullet seed. But still, he took damage from the bullet seed.

"Now leaf blade." I snarled and punched straight forward. But don't worry I didn't hit someone. Anyways, this battle is getting intense! The leaves in Grovyle's arms glowed and became longer.

"I'll fight you head on." She muttered. "Geodude, use tackle!"

Both of our pokemon darted forward and hit each other. Geodude suddenly fell to the ground after the collision.

"Geodude cannot continue the battle. Grovyle is the winner." the judge declared.

"You're a good trainer." Roxanne commented. "But, can you defeat my best pokemon?" she asked as she threw a pokeball into the air releasing Nosepass.

"Nosepass, use rock tomb." she said and rocks are going down towards Grovyle.

"Agility to dodge those rocks!" I yelled. Grovyle quickly dodged the rocks. "Now leaf blade."

Nosepass wasn't able to dodge Grovyle's leaf blade. Nosepass fell down. Nosepass is a ground type pokemon and one of their weakness is grass type pokemon. Grovyle is the perfect choice for this battle.

Nosepass managed to stand up. "Use take down Nosepass." she said.

"Fight him head on Grovyle!" I muttered. And Grovyle dashed forward. The two of them are charging towards each oher.

"Now use leaf blade." I added.

"Rock tomb." she commanded.

"Jump then hit 'em with leaf blade!" rocks came crashing to the ground but Grovyle jumped to dodge all of them and landed a leaf blade to Nosepass.

Nosepass fell down. He is not standing up nor moving. "Nosepass is unable to battle, Grovyle is the winner. Therefore, Rave of Littleroot Town is the winner." the judge announced.

"Yes!!!" I screamed because of so much happiness. Roxanne went in front of me and gave me a badge.

"That's the stone badge. Now, I say that you are officially on your journey on becoming a participant for the Hoenn League, congratulations." Roxanne said and we did a shakehands.

"Thanks for the nice battle." I replied. She nodded. Then Seira and I left the gym.

"It was an amazing battle!" she said while her eyes were sparkling.

"Yeah." I said. Now we are on our way back to the Petalburg Woods to get to route 104 where a ferry going to the Dewford Town is located. That's where I can get my second gym badge.

On our way, rain started to pour down. "We have to take shelter." I told Seira and she nodded. We ran as fast as we can.
Then, lightning flashed. A blinding light covered the whole surroundings and when it faded, the legendary pokemon, Raikou, is standing in front of us.

"Grrr." It snarled and gave me a deadly look. Then another flash of lighting occurred and he was gone.

"A Raikou?" I was curious. The three guardians are often avoiding people. So why are they showing themselves to me? Is Roxanne right? That maybe I am one of the chosen trainers by the guardians?

I looked at Seira and again she brought out a notepad and pen. I looked at what she's doing and it's a checklist of all the legendary pokemons that she have seen. She really is determined to reach her dream.
