Aviana's POV

Edited by @Dragon_Shield

"You could've been killed! I mean honestly, I would expect something like this from your father. But you! Did all those training sessions mean nothing!? The self defense methods!? The back-up plans!? I mean seriously Aviana! What if you exposed us? What if- what if-"

"I'm fine!" I shouted, cutting off my mother who was currently pacing back and forth. Her emerald eyes were blazing with fire as her feet left smoke in her path behind her. And I mean that in the most literal way. She was pacing so furiously that she left a black trail of smoke with indents forming on the dirt ground.

In the blink of an eye, she was right in front of me and gripping onto my wrists tightly, bruising the already damaged skin from when he had grabbed me. "Now, you're fine! But what about next time?! What if they know?! What if they knew about you the entire time and just underestimated you-"

"We'll you're not wrong about that. "I mumbled beneath my breath, but I was sure she heard it- if her glare was anything to go by.

"Aviana," she let go of my wrist and slumped against the brick wall behind her, " this isn't a game. Your life isn't a game! Your pride should not be more important than your life! You have a duty-"

Again, I cut her off. "Yes, mother! I know. I know all about the prophecy! You've drilled it into my head for nearly eighteen years now! I just wanted to prove to you guys that I could take care of myself in this sort of situation!" I defended, flailing my arms out in exasperation.

My mother was always the protective mama bear whenever it concerned me. We would spend almost the entire of my summers doing nothing but training for the war that I would have to be apart of in my future. During the school year, she would constantly cancel my plans with friends to continue learning the history witches and how to control my powers. In school, everything we learned was werewolves' benefits and nothing else. But because I was also half witch, and my mother was a pure blooded witch, she thought it necessary that I learn absolutely everything about her kind. To say my childhood was hectic, would be the understatement of the year.

But what I didn't understand, is why she was yelling at me when she knew full well I could handle myself with a couple of clueless rogues. Well... except one. My mind reminded me. And suddenly, my wrist burned with memory of his rough grip upon my delicate wrists. I had more muscle than an average shewolf, that was correct, but it didn't mean my wrist were any more fragile. I swear if he had tightened his grip anymore I'm sure my wrists would've been seared off or snapped.

"I just want you to be prepared. " I heard my mother say, bringing my focus back to her. Her eyes were back to their regular pale green and her lips formed a pained expression. She looked so broken. Just than, my father came and wrapped his arms around her. She visibly sighed in bliss and leaned into his touch, while I turned my gaze almost immediately.

Lately it's been harder and harder to be around friends and family because of their mates'. I knew I wasn't getting one. There was no way the Moon Goddess had the decency to bless me with a mate when she knew my destiny already. It would tear my mate apart if he knew about my prophecy. I'm pretty sure neither of us would be able to stand it. But it didn't mean it hurt any less to know that everyone else around me got to experience what love felt like... besides me. I wouldn't get to know that feeling. I wouldn't get to be wrapped in someone's warm embrace and feel absolutely safe within their arms. I wouldn't get loving kisses placed on my neck in a reassurance that they're there. I wouldn't get to have little pups running around the household with happy little smiled upon their beautiful, young faces. I wouldn't get the kind of love I've yearned for since I was a little girl.
