Xavier's POV
I fell to the ground, my heart constricting painfully in my chest. My hand flew to my heart as a groan of pure agony left my lips. My entire body suddenly felt like there was a hot, liquid lava brewing within my core, making its way to the joints and muscles beneath my skin.
Curses flew past my lips and I twisted my face in anguish.
"Whoa, what the hell?" I heard Max's voice, and suddenly, he was right next to me. Hands gripped onto my arm, trying to keep me upright but it wasn't working. The pain got worse if anything!
"What the hell is going on?" Max asked, but I was in too much pain to really talk. My jaw felt like it dropped off its hinges. My limbs were going numb and it felt like my organs were weakening- shutting down. But the worst- Goddess the worst- of it all was my heart. It was as if someone wrapped a barb wire around it and knotted it into the tightest bow ever. This had to be the most agonizing torture I've ever had to endure. The tug was constant and my tongue even began to go numb- restricting me of the screams that wanted to escape.
My wolf was howling. His spirit was slowly dissipating and my heart let out an even bigger cry. If my wolf spirit were to disappear- I'd be a regular, mortal creature! My father would disown me! Hell- he'd kill me himself!
"Hey, hey, calm down. Damnit. Danny you're the genius, what the fuck is going on?"
"His mate," replied Danny, and I tuned in on my wolf. His cries and echoes only made everything worse.
'MATE! DON'T LEAVE! MATE!,' he cried. My breaths began to get shorter and I had to fight hard to keep the tears that threatened to escape from my eyes. I'd be damned if I let a single drop down in front of anyone!
"What do you mean his mate?"
"The spell that, that witch cast must've had an even bigger reaction to her then we thought. Since they're both mates and completed the first step, their bond has already been creating from the start. They feel what the other is going through- physically." Danny responded, casually.
"What's the first step?"
"Skin contact. The next is the first kiss, which will than make their bond even stronger and they'll be able to feel what the other is feeling physically and emotionally. The third and final step is mating and marking. Once you mate, you have to mark her that very night and their mind link will open up to one another and, not only will they be able to feel what the other is feeling both emotionally and physically but, they'll be able to see what the other is seeing as well and it also creates a deeper invincibility then an unmarked werewolf. Pretty cool, if you ask me. But there are, of course, its cons that comes with this mating bond. Like this." Danny finished.
"Well why is she going through this to begin with? It was a location spell!"
Their voices were becoming so loud that it momentarily stunned my hearing. My vision blurred and everything around me was getting dizzy. The lava-like fire burned beneath the skin of my right arm and I collapsed to the ground fully after that.
And then... the world went black, and the echo of my wolf disappeared. Right after, my head whipped to the side as a painful crack resounded from my neck.

It was dark. So very dark. And cold. So cold that I felt myself shivering instantly from the wind that flew through the material of my clothing and straight into the depths of my bones.
I flinched when a sudden light flickered a couple feet away from me. My eyes squinted on their own accord, trying to figure out what the dark shadow was. I shivered again, feeling a sort of emptiness and longing.
