Avi' s POV
NOT EDITED
I woke with a gasp. My heart was pounding furiously and my throat shot with pain.
"Avi! Oh goddess, baby girl I was so worried." No sooner then I let my first couple of breaths out was I embraced into my mother's arms.
My eyes widened from the force of the hug; I looked up to see my mother's eyes watering and her hands were getting whiter and colder. It was the complete opposite to how I thought she would feel. I assumed her hair would burn a fiery red and her eyes light up with blazing flames of rage and anger. But she just looked like a mother hurting and in pain from witnessing the death of her daughter.
My eyes cast their way towards the white door some feet away from me. I recognized the door as one from the many hospital rooms back in Wyoming and then stared at my mom curiously.
"How- how long have I been out?" I asked, and cringed when my throat again throbbed in pain. A glass of water was placed in my hands almost instantly.
"Drink up, darling. You've been out for forty-two hours. Don't you worry. We had you placed in bed as soon as possible. Are you alright? You need anything else? Oh you must be famished by now, love. Here let me just go fetch you something quick to eat. Don't you move I'll be right back!" It was almost comical to watch my mother scurry away in her hunt for food. The corners of my lips pulled up into a small smile, before it quickly went away.
Xavier. My mind flashed back to the dream. Everything had seemed so real. Like, he was actually there. And when I saw him- my heart pounded as another discovery hit me. I could feel her. My wolf. This time, a grin made its way to my lips. I finally had my wolf. And I knew it because I could feel her within me. She was like.. A soul of sorts. Expect, you could feel its presence. Like a second soul. Another life. A piece of you that forever embedded into oneself. I felt stronger, still tired, but stronger. And faster. My vision was as clearer than ever. Before I had perfect 20/20 vision. But now it seemed even clearer than before. Every object within the presence of my sight was defined sharper to the point where I could make out even the tiniest of bugs in them or even the littlest amount of dust. I felt like a whole new me. And it was all because of my wolf.
And then, just like that, the grin vanished again as another image of Xavier flashed through my mind. The way his eyes sparked in close proximity and sharp definition of the muscles he possessed. And I couldn't have forgotten the way he looked at me or how we were so close- so very close from connecting lips.
I closed my eyes and groaned aloud. Mate. We were mates. Xavier. Xavier King was my mate. The son of most notorious rogue out there was destined to be with me of all people.
"Oh goddess," I whispered under my breath, just as soon as the door reopened. And in walked not just my mother, but my father, Tyler and of course Alison too.
"Here darling. Eat up. How do you feel?" Mom handed me a bowl of white rice and a lot of cut up chicken. I arched an eyebrow at her. We didn't usually eat rice. She just shrugged in response.
"I feel fine. Great actually," I admitted, taking a couple pieces of the chicken into my mouth.
"That's fantastic! Uhm, do you feel anything... unusual?" She asked.
I simply shrugged. "Other than my wolf going a little crazy, no. Not really."
Mom exhaled out a breath. "Oh that's gr- wait what? Wolf?"
I nodded with a small smile. "Yeah. I finally have my wolf."
The room was in hysterics just seconds later after the news sunk in. Alison screamed out loud and jumped on Tyler. Dad came and pulled me into his arms and my mother was simply smiling though fear was placed in her eyes.
"How did it happen?" Dad asked when he pulled back.
But it was mom who answered. "When she died. And her heart stopped momentarily that was when her wolf knew that to save her she needed to finally open up and save Avi or else she too would die. She made herself apart of Avi and quickly healed her broken neck and when she felt Avi was strong enough she urged on her heartbeat to continue its beating."
Dad just continued to grin, as if he didn't listen to a word mom said. "I'm so happy. And I'm so proud of you dear," he kissed my forehead, embracing me yet again. "Soon, when you're completely better we'll work on having you shift into your wolf. But for now, we have more pressing matters to deal with. For instance, the mere fact that you now have your wolf means that the war will be coming soon. Sooner than we would've liked. Everyone will soon have knowledge of your existence to the pack and know that you are the breed from the prophecy. And when they find out everyone will be preparing for war. We don't know when war will break out. But you- you darling will know. You may not know right now but you will. I promise. You control everything that happens. You are what decides fate. You, sweetheart. Only you." I stared at my dad in awe. This was probably the first time he had ever really... talked to me. Talked to me like he truly understood. Talked to me sincerely. Talked to me... as if I were still his little girl.
Reality dawned on me only moments later however, and I gulped. "Gee dad," I let out a nervous chuckle," no pressure or anything."
He simply smiled at me, and took ahold of my hand. "Don't worry sweetheart. Your mother and I have faith in you. You've been preparing for this moment your entire life. We know you won't let us down."
"I know I've been preparing my whole life...but.... But what if it's not enough. I've barely begun to understand how to use my wolf. All I've really relied on to save me was my magic-"
"It'll be okay darling. You have time to learn the way of your wolf. We'll start tomorrow actually. First thing in the morning. You'll wake at the crack of dawn and we'll begin warm ups first: 20 minute jog, 10 minute interval of a water and snack break and then 30 minute run. After that you'll go with Tyler for some intense training- however you will not be able use your witch powers. You will work on testing your strength and agility with having your wolf now. Next, you'll go with your mother for lunch and to work on your powers more. Since your wolf is finally with you it has also opened up new powers and new ways to control them as well. Finally, you will come to me where we will work on having you shift into your wolf. Get some more rest darling. You're going to need it. "With that, he patted my shoulder and walked out, alone with everybody else.
I slumped into my bed, a groan leaving my lips.
