The moment his lips touched mine, I knew I was a goner. There was no going back. The feeling of your lips touching your mate's was pure bliss. His lips molded to mine in perfect sync. Almost as if his lips were made for me- and in hindsight, they probably were. The Moon Goddess blessed us together. She made him for me and me for him.

Xavier angeled his head to the side, deepening the kiss. There was an instantaneous bond that developed between us when our lips touched. I felt him within me. His emotions all came crashing into me at once. There were so many I couldn't really focus on exactly what he was feeling. All I knew is that concentrating on anything served to be impossible while I fell prey to his lips.

His arms snaked around my waist. The tingles shooting throughout my entire body were relentless. The kiss was everything a first kiss should be: perfect

And yet, it ended too soon for my liking. Abruptly tearing himself from my lips, Xavier looked up. I noticed his eyes glazing over. He was talking to someone using his pack link.

I couldn't help the empty feeling I felt when he pulled away but I wasn't surprised. He was my mate. The son of most notorious werewolf out there was my mate. Though I wanted to feel fear; I wanted to cower away and smack him across the face- the bond would not allow me. Xavier was mine in every aspect. But we would not get our happy ending like most mates. He was mated to a girl who most likely had to give up her life so the creatures of the earth could live in harmony once again. And I was mated to a man who must have killed entire packs with his bare hands. He was a cold-blooded killer. And he was mine.

"I have to go," it was but a whisper and in the blink of an eye, Xavier was gone. I was left in the woods. Cold and alone. It would never work between us- mates or not. One of us was bound to die.  There was a sinking pit in my stomach that somehow knew Xavier and I would not get the ending either of us wanted.

Still, my fingers trembled, grazing my still tingling lips. It was our first kiss.
Something told me it would be our last

By the time I got back to the pack house, I could hear voices.

Alyssa

I completely forgot about what led to Xavier and our's interaction to begin with. I cast a small spell on myself that would calm me down. My blood pressure lowered, my heart stopped racing, and my breathing was back to normal within seconds. I didn't want my pack knowing about our encounter just yet.

I stepped into the living room of the house. Immediately, I saw the entire pack. In the very center, was a blubbering Alyssa. Her face was red and blotchy still as she recalled the horrifying day.

"And and and than she kept yelling at me to run right before they ripped her to pieces!" A round of gasps echoed around my pack. "So then I started running but one of them got my leg and I turned around and it was that-that bastard, Xavier!" I could feel my inner wolf stir, not liking the insult towards her mate. I bit back my snide remarks, listening intently. "But-but-but I managed to-to fight him off. I ran. I didn't' stop running until I came across your pack. I'm so sorry for trespassing, Alpha Alexander I just had to get away. They killed them all.." she broke out into sobs. Her entire body was shaking.

I didn't know if it was because Xavier was my mate and I felt the need to protect him or what- but there was something about Alyssa's story that was... off.

For starters, she looks like a complete mess. If what the stories told about Xavier are true- he's one ruthless wolf. I doubt very seriously he would have let Alyssa live once he got his paws on her. Not to mention, there was no blood on Xavier when we spoke. He was out of breath. But if he really did help slay an entire pack than he's bound to get messy and blood spatters are inevitable. In fact, if there was any trace of blood on Xavier, I would have been able to detect it within seconds.
