Chapter 17

-My Dad as My Sensei-

Gene's POV:
I sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. Opi was perched on top of my head, sound asleep. I looked over at a yawning Ben, curled up, hugging his pillow with the kind of strength that seems almost as if he's holding on for his dear life. Drool slipped from his mouth, onto the pillow. I rolled my eyes, "guess I'll be throwing that in the laundry later..." I muttered almost bitterly. Still, he looked so cute, sleeping like that. T rolled over, stretching her arms toward the ceiling, arching her back as she yawned. I saw a figure, standing at my door, out of my perephrial vision. I jumped, nearly bulldozing Ben into the wall. "My, my. Looks like you had a sleep over last night." My mom stated, looking at my crowded bed of unusual beings and my best friend. I glared at her, "do you really gotta act all ninja like, first thing in the goddamn morning?" She chuckled, "dear, don't you think it's a little early for that attitude." I looked down, "It's early enough for that attitude." We both laughed. "Well I'll be making breakfast for you and your friends, I'll let you know when it's ready." She bowed and in an instant she was gone. "Forget ninja she's as quick and fancy as Sebastian." T said, rubbing her back as she sat up. "You did not just go all Black Butler fangirl on me did you?" She smiled, throwing me a thumbs up, "you know it..." her eyes widened, her face went red, her eyes almost twinkling, "Sebastian's just so hawt, he could harvest my soul any day!" I laughed again, causing Ben and the others to stir. Hoodie turned, accedentally knocking Maskie off the bed. A loud thud echoed through the room. Hoodie bounced up, eyes wide with surprise. Masky stood up, groaning and rubbing his back. T and I chuckled. Ben lay there, still drooling on his pillow. "Slendy...nooo. She's too precious.." he muttered in his sleep. I started to blush thinking it was about me. "No...Slendy my baby, it took forever to program her that way...she was my first...my first motorcycle." T started laughing so hard, she fell off the bed. Heat raced throughout my body, I felt my face boiling with rage. I punched him in the face, full force. He whinned as I yelled at him, "YOU IDIOT, WAKE UP! GOD YOU MAKE ME SO MAD!" He whimpered "Gene why'd you hit me like that I didn't do anything." He said, holding onto his head. I crossed my arms, making a bitter face. He sat up crossing his legs, still rubbing the back of his head. "I'm sorry babeeeee." He just had to let the nickname linger like that... I didn't respond, "Babeeeee, love meeee!" Just as I was about to say something my mom called us down for breakfast. "Oh finally, I'm starving!" T exclaimed, more excited than a child on Christmas eve. "Oooo, I hope there's cheesecake!" Masky shouted joyfully, he was already down the stairs by the time everyone was filed out the door. "Is he always like this?" I asked, standing by the stairs. Hoodie had his arms behind his head, walking past me he stated nonchalently, "yepp. Everyday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner." T followed him, shrugging her sholders at me. Ben stopped and bowed to me, holding his arm out towards the stairs, "ladies first my love." I stiffled a laugh as I headed down the stairs, Ben following right behind me, intertwining his fingers with mine.

When we all finished eatting we went into the living room. Just as I was about to turn on the T.V, my mom walked in, "by the way, Gene, don't let your father see your friends, he might end up dying of a heart attack." Masky and Hoodie looked at each other in confusion. "Even Bennyboy?" Ben pouted. My mom chuckled, "Especially Bennyboy, all that one has is a mask, that other one has a hood but also has red eyes and a red mouth, but you have black eyes, with red orbs and blood dripping from them. I don't think he'll ever recover from that." He grumbled and flashed into his "human" form. She smiled, "that's better." I jumped "oh mom, by the way, those two over there are Masky and Hoodie." They waved to her and she flashed them a kind smile, "nice to meet you boys. Gene, I'll be in my garden" With that, she waltzed off, to tend to her garden. Just as I was about to turn the T.V on...again...we were inturrupted... again. Out of nowhere, Dad appeared right infront of me. Not the dad that I grew up knowing as my dad, but my immortal, real dad. Before I could even blink he had teleported himself infront of me and before I had time to react he leaned in, face two inches from mine, actually he was already leaning in, as if he had teleported in that position. "Time for father, daughter training!" I screamed and fell over the couch. I landed with a thud and a groan. Everyone peered over the couch, looking down on me with confusion. I stood up, a little too fast for my heads liking, I got light headed, putting my hands on the back of the couch for support. Once my senses came back I yelled at him, sending him falling to the floor like someone out of an anime show. "DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN! ARE YOU TRYING TO GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK!?" He stood up once again, "sorry dear, but we really need to hurry, and start training. I'm a busy man you know." I rolled my eyes, walking past everyone and sliding the patio door open. Everyone followed me outside, onto my lawn. It was very bare, only two trees, but the grass was really green and soft. It was about 20 acres, not including the wooded area we own, on the opposite side of the house was my moms garden, being only five acres, of course that's a lot of land for a garden.

T, Ben, Hoodie, and Masky sat in the grass, 50 feet away from where Dad and I were standing. He sat down. "Uhh...Dad? What are we doing?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at him. He spoke calmly, "we have to unleash your power so you can use your tendrils and learn various spells, such as gravitational release, Planetary Devistation, and Dark Spirit Bomb. Then I'll teach you how to teleport." I staired at him blankely, "unleash my...powers?" He folded his hands, "in order to use your spells and be able to fight properly, and have the ability to live up to the Slenderman name, you need to unleash your powers. Being untrained, your powers have remained dormant in your heart and soul. We need to awaken those powers." I let it all sink in before I asked him another question, "and Planetary Devistation, you mean like Pain's jutsu in Naruto?" He looked up at me again, "eh...what's Naruto?" I laughed at him, "it's an anime." He looked confused, "well in Naruto, what does Planetary Devistation do?" I began to explain it as best I could, "Well there's this dark orb that's in the sky and it pulls chunks of the Earth around the enemy break apart and it sucks them into it, making this giant mass of Earth ball tight and traps the enemy, I guess." He chuckled, "no it's not quite like that, it just breaks up the land around, much like an Earthquake. It creates huge cracks in the ground that your enemy falls into, and it destroys the land around it. Now sit down, my child, time is of the essance." I obeyed, and sat across from him. "Now close your eyes and relax." He took my hands in his. His skin felt cold and smooth...almost clamy. "Focus on the proxy symbol on your hip. That is the key to locking and unlocking your power." I opened my eyes, "proxy symbol? That's what it's called?" He sighed in frustration, "yes, of course it doesn't mean you are a proxy, it just means that you are my daughter, and that is my proxy symbol. Every proxy has a different symbol, it usually represents the family they are born into, I'll explain the Proxy ordeal with you some other time, but right now, I need you to focus on right now. Now do it again." I closed my eyes and focused on the symbol, etched into my side. It took me a minute to picture it but I finally managed. "Now make it glow, all you have to do is picture it glowing." I did as he said and began to make it glow. It began to turn red and a bright light ommited from it. "Ok now focus on your heart beat while maintaining your focus on the glowing proxy mark." I was a little confused by him saying this but I did just that. It was a difficult task, trying to focus on two things at once, but I did. The mark started beating along to the beat of my heart. Just then the glowing intensified. "Ignore the pain you will feel in your heart, you have to continue focusing on the task at hand." The pain I will feel in my...? Just then my heart started burning. I ignored it and continued to focus on the symbol. The burning intensified, and I wanted to stop but I knew I had to keep going. I was finding it difficult to breath but I still focused on the symbol. The x disappeared, leaving me confused, the o, however, still remained. "Now open your eyes." I did what he said, and to my shock and utter disbelief, we were both glowing. It was a bright blue glow. The winds around us were heavey, but it wasn't touching us. I looked over to the others, seeing their shocked faces. Dad stood up, releasing my hands. The glow, and the wind stopped all together. "Look at your mark." I lifted my shirt, and saw the symbol was glowing red, just like in my mind. "You unlocked it my child. I knew you could do it." I smiled happily at what I had just achieved. "Now I must go, we will continue again next time." He pulled me into a hug, before disappearing in thin air. The others walked up to me. "Great job Gene!" Hoodie saod proudly, fist bumping the air. "Yeah Gene, way to go!" Masky cheered quietly. My mom walked around the house with Jeff and Jack. "Look what the cat dragged in." She said. The three walked up to us. "Hey guys!" Jack greeted. Jeff just stood there, twirling his knife." My mom smiled warmly at me, "I see your training went well. Good job sweety!" I raised an eyebrow at her, "you saw?" She nodded. "Come on, you mist be hungry, lets eat lunch." We all walked inside everyone was talking about what happened when I was unlocking my symbol with dad. I just rolled my eyes and laughed along with them. I'm just glad it went smoothly.
