-Adjusting to the normalness of things-
Gene's POV:
It's been three days since we had saved Jeff. I was still uptight about the fact that Zalgo played a part in this. Jeff had been in a coma for a while now. We don't know when he's going to wake up. I paced back and forth in my room, sighing every two or three minutes. I was still trying to adjust to the normal routine. After all the shit with Jane kidnapping Jeff, and the car accedent, the eternals and that weird guy that completely transformed, it's been so quiet. None of us have ran into anything horrible, nor have we heard anything on the news about weird monsters reeking havoc on the town. The only news reports have been on strange murders(courtesy of the people I live with), and people going missing in the woods(courtesy of my dad). Those and the usual everyday crime in nearby cities, or good deed done by some random person. School is still closed since the attack. I've legit had nothing to do lately. I was about to plop down into my bed when I heard a loud knocking. I scratched my head and let out another sigh. "Come in." I grumbled. Ben walked in, calmly, seemingly trying to act cool. "Hey babe. Want to go into town? Maybe get a cup of coffee together. It could do us some good to get out for a while, without my daily Majora's Mask haunting(slash)killing." I sighed once more, "sure, it's better than just pacing back and forth in here all day. Let me get changed." He fist bumped the air, and closed the door on his way out. I pulled open my dresser, unknowingly pulling it out too far. It fell, leaving me no time to catch it or move, landing right on my foot. The pain coursed through my body, causing me to immediatly grab the foot it fell on and bounce around on the other while howling in pain. Once the pain somewhat subsided, I kicked the drawer with the same foot in agravation, because clearly I'm just too stupid to not do something stupid. Another jolt of pain rushed through my body sending me boucing on one foot again, while holding the other, screaming like banshee. Ben burst into the room. "What the hell is going on? You sound like a dying whale!" I huffed, "I..stubbed my...toeeee, after the dresser fell on my..fooooootttt!" His face went blank, and walked out, closing the door behind him. Two seconds later I heard a loud thump, which startled me, followed by continuous laughter. I rolled my eyes, and grabbed a shirt from the drawer that still sat on the ground. I threw it on over my tanktop. It was my Guns n Roses muscle top. I then grabbed my black pair of jeans that were on my bed and slipped those on over my pajama shorts. I was too lazy to take them off. I laced up my converse and walked out. Ben was still on the floor, rolling around and roaring with laughter. I stepped on his stomach, before swinging my other leg over him. I headed toward the stairs, ignoring his groaning and incoherent curse words. I waited for him at the bottom of the stairs. After about a minute, he finally came down. "Could you be any slower?" I deadpanned. He glared at me.
At the coffee shop, he ordered himself a hot chocolate and two fudge truffles, "what do you want, Babe?" He asked me, "I'll have a pumpkin spice latte and a cookie dough truffle and an expresso truffle." The man behind the cash regesture took the money Ben handed to him and started working on the coffee. A woman handed us the truffles. We took our coffee and sat at a booth in the back. "I love this café. The coffee and truffles are so good." He said. "Mhm!" I muffled, behind my sip of hot coffee. "You know, it's crazy. Things have been so hectic lately, it's weird having a normal day. I'm not used to it." I sighed, taking a bite out of my expresso truffle. "Agreed!" Ben replied, "I actually haven't been able to go in and haunt people's games. I should do that when we get home." I laughed and shook my head, "ok, well have fun with that." He laughed, "oh I will. Murder is fun! Especially when you get to watch people's faces on the other side of the game, just before you kill them!" I rolled my eyes and chuckled a little. "I love you." He said out of complete random. I smiled, "I love you too."
We had finished our coffee and truffles, and left the café. "Hey why don't we stop at your parents' house, it's been a while, and now that things have settled down, why don't we visit them?" My eyes widened, and I feel like they were probably gleeming with excitement. He laughed, "I'll take that as a yes. Let's go." We turned and headed down the street.
