-Reparations and Mourning-

Gene's P.O.V:
The town has been busy cleaning up the rubble and broken down buildings left from the attack. They even have a bunch of construction workers rebuilding the town, and men fixing the roads. People have been volunteering as well. So many innocent lives were lost, and most of them weren't even involved either. They were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. My mother has been locked in Dad's room, refusing to come out since my other father died. She didn't even flinch at the fact she lost her hand. She was too focused on him. Today was his funeral. Clockwork was still unconcious in the medical room. We don't know when she'll wake up. Dad said she's in critical condition and that she's lucky her head wasn't taken off by the eternals she was fighting. Ben and Jeff walked into my room. Jeff was wearing a plain black polo shirt and his typical black slacks and converse. He has to wear a cast on each arm, just like the cast on my leg. He was still sporting the bruises on his face. Large sunglasses covered his eyes so that my family and friends wouldn't see his missing eyelids. Ben of course had no scratch on him, and was able to regenerate his lost leg and arm. He was in his human form and wearing the original tuxido. I was sitting by my window contemplating how things went. I could have done more. But why didn't I? I'm such a fool. "Still regretting losing him?" Ben asked? I glared at him. "You shouldn't be too hard on yourself. He's the only person who died. There could have been more of us. But because of you, we're all still alive. Be thankful it wasn't any one else." A tear rolled down my cheek, which I quickly caught with my sleeve. "Jeff, shouldn't you cover your mouth too?" I asked, averting the attention to Jeff to get off the horid subject. "Nah. It's too hot out. I figured I'd just tell everyone I was kidnapped and tortured when I was a kid. "Shouldn't be too complicated. Just as long as everyone goes along with it." He laughed. "Gene, I'm sorry Slendy can't come." Ben stated glumly. I just smiled, "I'm glad he's not. Do you know how awkward it'd be to have my real dad at my fake dad's funeral, when my fake dad never knew he wasn't really my dad. Plus, how's he supposed to cover up the fact he has no face and that he's so much taller than everyone?" I explained. Ben hesitated with a puzzled look, "...fair enough..." Toby walked in wearing a black v-neck under a fancy black jacket and just like Jeff, black slacks. "Y-you all ready to g-go?" We all nodded. I got up and fixed my knee-length black dress and put on my combat boot. We walked out to see my mom smiling at us. Her dress was slightly longer than mine and she wore simple, delicate black heels. "Hoodie and Masky don't want to go because they don't know your father, so they're going to stay home and watch Sally. Did you get anything from T and Damien?" My mother asked. "They are already at the funeral." I replied. She smiled warmly, but I knew that inside, she was dying. Knowing this made me frown, "shall we?" She gestured toward the stairs and we all headed outside. My mom got into the driver's seat of her mini van, I sat next to her. Ben and Jeff sat in the two seats behind us. In the three seater, behind them, sat Toby and Jack.

At the service, T and Damien greeted us. T wrapped me in a tight hug. So many of my Dad's friends, family and coworkers were there. The eight of us stood in the front row. His body was a mess beyond repair, making it a closed casket funeral. My heart panged as the man gave his speech. A corener stood in the back by a willow tree. As it was time to say our goodbyes, it started to rain. "Even the clouds weep for all the lives who were lost that day." Damien sighed. I stared down at the ground. We watched as they lowered the casket in his grave.

When the service was over, we all decided to go out for ice-cream to heighten our spirits. We all stood outside talking and laughing about all sorts of things until it was time to go home.

As soon as we got back, we were relieved to see that Clockwork was awake and on the couch, chowing on chinese food, despite being bandaged from head to toe. She woke up much sooner than we expected. I gave her a big hug before heading upstairs to my room. I immidiatly put on a tanktop and yoga shorts, pulled my hair back into a ponytail, and went to bed. Just before I fell asleep, I felt a pair of arms wrap around my body, and pull me tightly to the person's chest. "I didn't even hear you come in" I mumbled. "Did I disturb you?" Ben asked, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "No." I said bluntly, before drifting to sleep. The last thing I heard was him say, "I love you Gene, and I'm never leaving you again."
