Brendon's POV
We get to Starbuck and I stand in line while Sarah finds a table. "Let me guess, you want a pumpkin spice latte without the coffee?" I ask her, with a small smile.
"How did you know?" She laughs and sits down at a table with big comfy chairs. She looks so small and out of place sitting there, it's adorable.
"What can I get for you today?" The lady at the counter asks as she looks up at me and stifles a scream. "Oh my Llama! You're Brendon Urie!"
"That I am," I chuckle and shake her hand. She just stares at it like it was touched by an angel or something. "Could I get a tall Americano and a tall pumpkin spice latte, no coffee, please?" She pulls out two cups and a marker.
"Could I get your name?" She asks and then slaps herself in the forehead. "Never mind." She says as she writes Brendon on both the cups.
"I mean I'd give you my number too, but I'm here with another woman so that would be a bit inappropriate." I wink a little, handing her the money for our drinks and walking over to the serving counter.
"Tall Americano for Brandon?" A woman says. She sounds like the secretary from Monster's Inc. I roll my eyes at the common mistake in pronunciation and take my coffee over to the table where Sarah has been waiting. "Tall pumpkin, no coffee?" I walk back to the counter and say a low thank you, turning back to Sarah.
I sit across from her in the other large leather chair. "Wazowski," I mock the server and Sarah giggles, taking a sip of her latte. "So," I smile at her. "Tell me a little about yourself."
She frowns abrultly and then begins, "When I was almost six, my dad found out that my mom was having another kid, my little brother Dillan. He ran for the hills and we haven't seen him since. My mom turned into an old sour puss and hasn't been fun I almost a decade. The only people who really know about that are Dillan, Tanner and Ryan. And now you, I guess. I don't really like to talk about it much . . ." she trails off and I can feel her sadness. I never wanted her to be upset, so I try changing the subject.
"What about after that? Have you ever dated anyone or anything?" I ask casually, sipping on my coffee.
"No. Well I mean I dated Tanner in grade seven," she smiles broadly at that. I almost do a spit take.
"I thought that kid was gay!" I say a little too loudly.
Sarah gives me a "what the fuck?" look and replies with, "That was before anyone knew. I was just his beard. But I've never really liked any guys, they're untrustworthy and douchey." Oh gee, thanks. I guess I count under that umbrella.
I pout a little at her statement and she laughs. "So why are you trusting me then?" I counter. Her smile falters and the air is stale for a moment. Then her smile comes back and she leans forward.
"What about you? How many girls have touched your lips?" Sarah giggles, twitching her eyebrow at me.
"Oh, not as many as you think." I snicker, draining the last of my coffee.
"Oh really? I haven't really seen you at shows, is this the first time you've picked up a random girl from the audience? One who is nine years younger than you, I might add." She interrogates. It's actually kinda cute, I'm not going to lie.
"Well, you're the first in a long time. I think the last girl I brought home from a show was when I was . . . 19?" I say, trying to think back to my early years in Panic!
"Oh wow. That's a whole six years." She laughs with a bit of sarcasm. It's drawing me into her lips and I almost lean in to kiss her, and then remember her trust issues.
"Yeah it is, actually. And I haven't even taken you home yet." I laugh, until I realize what exactly I have just said. Damn it, Brendon, watch what you're saying! I open my mouth to apologize, but Sarah beats me to the punch.
"You won't get to." Is all she chokes out. She gets up to throw away her empty cup, and I follow.
"I wasn't -- I didn't mean -- that was inappropriate, I'm sorry." I stutter out. Why does she make me so tongue tied?
"Just take me back to Ryan's house." She sighs and walks out of the Starbucks. I follow behind her, feeling defeated. The least I can do for this poor girl is take her back to her friends. I have already done some damage on her anxiety, I should quit while I'm ahead.
