"Plane tickets to Hungary?" Natasha asked, surprised.

"Budapest, to be exact." Clint smirked, slipping his hands into his pockets and leaning against the dresser casually while he studied Natasha's reaction.

"We're going there on holiday? What about-"

"If you're worried about Fury, Sweetheart, I've already taken care of it, or rather I've already asked Phil to take care of it."

"You're always bullying Phil." Natasha stated and crossed her arms.

"Now, what bad things did he tell you about me?" Clint challenged, pursing his lips.

"Lots of things, like that time you stole his coffee and gave it to Agent May, and the other time you posted his unglam photo on Snapchat and-"

"Alright, alright, can we not talk about those things, can you at least be happy that I'm taking you on holiday?" Clint leaned forward, removed his hands from his pockets, and placed them on Natasha's arms. He looked at her with puppy eyes.

"Of course I'm happy." Natasha broke into a grin and stood up on her tippy toes to kiss Clint's nose.

---------------------------------------------

And so began their week's holiday in Budapest, Hungary.

Clint and Natasha spent the first few days sightseeing. They visited the Buda Castle to appreciate Hungarian art, and watched a concert at St. Stephen's Basilica. They also busied themselves with tours at the National Museum and the zoo.

They stopped by Cafe Ruszwurm, one of the oldest traditional cafes in Budapest for delectable treats and pastries. Natasha was particularly fond of the Ruszwurm Cream Cake, a heavenly vanilla creamed pastry.

Clint and Natasha had planned for their second last day in Budapest to be a relaxed one, so they spent the bout of the day lazing around the hotel room, and only headed for the beach in the evening.

Hand in hand, with Natasha's sundress flowing in the gentle breeze, the couple walked barefooted along the shore, the distant lights of the city a faded dream.

"Sweetheart, will you allow me to sing you a song?" Clint asked out of the blue.

"Mmm-Hmm." Natasha answered, her eyes focused on the gentle lapping of the waves.

The monotonous melody of the waves was suddenly interrupted by the clear and soothing sound of Clint's voice.

From my youngest years
Till this moment here
I've never seen
Such a lovely queen

Yup, that may be an old song, but the words were far more meaningful than most pop culture songs nowadays. Natasha began to smile involuntarily.

From the skies above
To the deepest love
I've never felt
Crazy like this before

An adorable blush spread across Natasha's cheeks.

Paint my love
You should paint my love
It's the picture of a thousand sunsets
It's the freedom of a thousand doves
Baby you should paint my love

Clint sang ever so sincerely, putting all his heart into expressing each and every word and emotion of the song. By then, they had stopped walking and just stood facing each other.

Since you came into my life
The days before all fade to black and white
Since you came into my life
Everything has changed

Clint gently took Natasha's hand and guided it to where his heart was. He held it there.

And this time, Natasha sang along to the chorus as well. Their voices harmonised, a perfect melody with the sound of the waves in accompaniment.

Silence ensued as the song ended, but it was comforting silence, an understanding silence that settled between the two.

"Well, you know how the world is ever-changing, and every second we have the new replacing the old, moments lost just as they were created?" Clint suddenly broke the silence.

"Change isn't necessarily bad." Natasha mused.

"Yeah, that's why there is only one thing about you that I want to change."

Natasha looked up at him curiously and waited for him to continue.

"Your last name." Clint grinned.

Natasha blushed as Clint got down on one knee and retrieved a little red velvet box from his pants pocket. He opened it gingerly and the ring that was nestled inside sparkled.

"Natasha Romanoff, will you marry me?" He looked up at her with eyes of adoration and love.

Tears of joy encircled her eyes as Natasha nodded profusely.

Clint smiled ear to ear and slipped the ring onto her finger. He then got up, picked her up, and twirled her all around.

"Natasha Romanoff is mine!" He proclaimed in joy, and Natasha giggled, arms wrapped round his neck.

With Natasha still in Clint's embrace, they pressed their foreheads together, warm smiles on their faces.

"Was this what you were talking to my parents about?"

"Clever girl, I was asking them for permission." Clint gently pinched her nose.

He looked down at her passionately, then angled his head so that their lips would match like perfect puzzle pieces.

Moments before their lips touched, Clint spoke, an affectionate whisper.

"I'd fight for you any day, Sweetheart."
