There was finally a closure to Hayden's case, where S.H.I.E.L.D had decided to send him for rehabilitation, having believed he should be given a chance, but mostly because Natasha had pleaded on his behalf.

In response to that, Clint hadn't been angry. He just couldn't comprehend how much of an angel his Natasha was. Despite having been tortured by Hayden, she was willing to look past that and empathize with him.

"Did it hurt when you fell from the sky?" Clint had asked, only to receive a playful eye roll.

After some discussions, Coulson had managed to help them convince Fury on the issue of staying off base.

"I guess that's what I'll have to give in exchange for an agent." He said, without a hint of anger or annoyance. He was willing to breach protocol, but only for his best agent, and agent-to-be.

And so Clint moved to Natasha's place, and they went to work together everyday and Natasha took to part time studying.

---------------------------------------------

It was a Saturday, and Natasha's parents were coming for a visit.

Clint and Natasha were there at the airport to receive them that morning.

"Oh Sweetie, it's been so long!" Mrs Romanoff exclaimed and hugged her daughter. It had in fact only been a few months.

"I missed you too, mom." Natasha mumbled into her shoulder.

"Son, I see you've been taking really good care of Natasha." Mr Romanoff offered a smile and gave Clint a pat on the back.

"I keep my promises, Sir." Clint replied with a grin, although he did feel a little guilty for what happened with Hayden.

As Natasha went to hug her dad, Mrs Romanoff came over to hug Clint.

"Clint, love, I missed you too." Mrs Romanoff said affectionately, she had long considered Clint her own son.

Clint felt warm and fuzzy on the inside. Since his parents passed on, he had always envied other kids who received affection from theirs. Now he felt it too, and it was his to keep.

He gave Mrs Romanoff a nod and a smile.

"C'mon, let's get home." Natasha said cheerily and took Clint's hand. Clint helped Mrs Romnaoff with her bags and they walked out of the airport to Jerome and the car waiting by the kerb.

The ride back home saw Mrs Romanoff filling in the details of what went on in New Zealand and her ladies club, as well as about some company matters too. It was interesting to Clint and Natasha to hear about what went on on the other side of the world, so they listened patiently.

In the afternoon, they went touring around the city like tourists, well technically Natasha's parents were tourists. They wanted to revisit some places that they were fond of, mostly expensive restaurants and patisseries and the park. Clint and Natasha were happy to tag along and keep them company.

They came home to a delicious dinner prepared by Rosa, and they talked over dinner.

"So I heard you're doing well in your job, Clint." Mr Romanoff started.

"Yeah, I am-" Clint answered but was cut off by Natasha.

"I just got employed by Clint's boss and now we work together!" Natasha interjected, unable to contain her excitement.

"Oh my, that's great!" Mrs Romanoff exclaimed.

"And Clint's staying here with me, so we're inseparable. He can't get rid of me even if he wanted." Natasha proclaimed smugly.

"I'm perfectly happy with this arrangement. But I can't say if you'll get bored and wish to get rid of me." Clint countered, and earned a pout from Natasha.

Mr and Mrs Romanoff chuckled at their playful banter. Everything was perfect, and everyone was happy, just like they wanted it.

"Wait, what exactly was your job again?" Mr Romanoff asked with the furrow of his eyebrows.

Clint and Natasha shared a look.

"Erm, it's with some law enforcement agency..." Clint treaded cautiously.

"Government one, don't worry, it's not illegal." Natasha added quickly.

"Oh, so are you working as a secretary, dear?" Mrs Romanoff asked.

"Psychological consultant." Natasha replied, a tad bit annoyed at being underestimated.

Natasha's parents nodded, satisfied with their answers, and Clint and Natasha breathed out in relief. They didn't have selling S.H.I.E.L.D secrets and being traitors in mind.

"Since when was there such a job placing in S.H.I.E.L.D?" Clint whispered to Natasha once the conversation with her parents had returned to a light-hearted one.

"It's what I envisioned I'll be called." Natasha whispered back with a smirk, to which Clint kissed.

He had tried to do it inconspicuously, but it was hard with Natasha's parents seated directly opposite. They stifled a laugh and Clint felt his cheeks redden.

"It's okay, no need to be embarrassed, we're rather glad to see how much love you shower on our daughter." Mrs Romanoff said warmly.

"I wouldn't want to imagine what these youngsters do when they're alone, seems to me they can't keep their hands and mouths off each other." Natasha's father said with a smirk, it was obvious he was trying to make them uncomfortable and it worked, seeing their blushing faces.

"Oh Honey, don't embarrass them." Natasha's mother began, and Clint and Natasha were almost relieved, until...

"Just ask Rosa if you wanna know." She continued with a laugh, and earned a whine from Natasha.

The conversation once again returned to more light-hearted things like what television shows were trending.

After the dishes had been cleared, Natasha's parents went into the kitchen to prepare some wine.

Clint and Natasha were sprawled out on the couch watching the news, when Clint untangled himself from her and excused himself to the kitchen.

Natasha stayed in the living room but she could see Clint conversing with her parents from where she was.

Her mother had a hand over her mouth and even her eyes were smiling, as if she was too shocked and excited at the same time. Her father was grinning from ear to ear and patting Clint on the shoulder approvingly.

Natasha wondered what Clint had told them.
