Sometimes things in life don't go as we plan them to.

Take me for example; I was supposed to go to college and get my degree. I had a loving family and had an amazing opportunity to go to my dream school, scholarships and all. It was all supposed to be paid for. I was accepted and had things ready.

Move in day was upon me before I knew it. My parents were excited, and we had the whole car packed, plus my father's truck.

I could practically smell freedom. Freedom from my parents, from my annoying younger brother, from everything while I began my journey as an adult.

It didn't happen that way. My mother and I were in front of my brother and father on the road. In front of us was a semi that had been swerving dangerously, and I remember my mother and I commenting on it.

I remember the conversations, and the singing to the radio.

I remember glancing at her and laughing, singing off key to a song with her.

She smiled at me from her seat, before a scream escaped her lips. Her eyes grew wide, and her knuckles on the steering wheel turned white.

Seconds later I was violently pitched forward, and my head slammed into the dashboard. I didn't have time to scream as what I now know to be the back end pf the semi rolled over the top of us. Somewhere outside of our metal coffin, I heard tires screech and felt the impact of another vehicle, and then another.

My scream was cut off as pain flooded my body. Glass littered all around my mother and I, and I tried to reach out to her with my hand. She was stuck, screaming and reaching for me.

I saw the pain in her eyes, and heard my name gurgle past her lips on a wet sob.

"Momma," I sobbed back, my fingertips catching hers.

I watched then, as the life left her eyes. As my world broke around me.

I slipped into a coma seconds after I watched my mother die.

When I woke up three months later, I was informed that I was the only survivor. The semi driver that my mother and I had joked about had fallen asleep behind the wheel, and had killed my family and an older couple.

I had no immediate family, and no one close that I could turn to.

I was alone in the world.

Some plans just don't play out.

Welcome, lovelies!

My name is Gabe, and this is not my first time writing. I have another account, but decided that I wanted to write a more... mature story, and that wasn't going to work on my other account seeing as I had family members on it. So without further addoooo, I give you Something Unexpected.

-Love,
