I woke in my own bed, in my own room. Except now it looked like a hospital had invaded and set up shop.

Connected to my arm was an ugly I.V., the skin around it bruised and swollen for some reason. Another apparatus was taped to my ring finger, and upon further inspection I found it led to the machine beeping above my head somewhere. In my other arm was another sort of I.V., but this one seemed to be putting something other than saline into my body. It was a dark color, and it took me a second to realize that they giving me a blood transfusion.

Confused, I looked around my bare room, and found Michael the mountain sitting in a chair by the door, dozing off.

I cleared my throat, trying to wake him up- to no avail. Growling to myself, I sat up and got light headed, the machines behind me going crazy. Doubling my body over, I set my head in my lap and coughed, suddenly having a hand on my back.

"Careful there, Maya. You had a pretty lethal dose of cyanide, it's a miracle you lived through it to be honest," Mountain's voice rumbled above me, and I turned my head enough to look at him through the corner of my eye.

"Cyanide?" I questioned him, my voice hoarse.

I watched as he nodded and took a sudden step back, "Yea, but you did save almost all the Alpha's lives in the process. Only one of them took a drink, but his wasn't poisoned."

I slowly laid back down and sighed when I got into a comfortable position, "Then there is the man you want to look at."

He laughed, "Oh he's already been taken care of. You've been out of it for some time now."

Eyebrows furrowing, I looked at him again, "I have?"

Pulling out a cell phone from his pocket, he unlocked it and looked at something, "Yup, you've been in and out of it for six days now. Like I said, it is a miracle you're even alive."

I blinked at him, "Impossible!"

Laughing, he shook his head, "Nah. That transfusion you have going on is some pretty strong, old, stuff."

Casting a glance to the bag of blood hanging beside me, I shuddered, "I don't even wanna know."

His laugh was booming this time, and I thought to ask, "Whose been bathing me? Or have I been bathed at all?"

Hitting his knee, he continued his laughing, shaking his head, "Out of all the things you should be asking, you question if we've been keeping you clean?"

I sniffed, "Well yea, I take pride in my bathing habits."

His laughing dying out, he replied, "Sarah's been taking care of you, along with a couple hospices hand-picked by her and another."

Sighing, I took in my outfit and realized it was my special shirt. A cheesy grin graced my face, "You guys found it!"

His eyebrow rose as he saw where my hand was weakly pointing at, "No, we were not the ones to find it."

My eyes took a roll, "Yea, okay."

The atmosphere in the room changed suddenly, and Michael tensed, "They're here to change the I.V."

I frowned, and looked towards the saline drip, which did seem to be nearing a low point. The door opened and two women walked in, Sarah right behind them. Her head was down, and none of them had noticed I was awake yet.

Again, my throat was cleared, and within seconds Sarah was holding my hand and bawling. "I-I thought we were going to lose you. We're so lucky you're not human, oh my god, and that he was a match for your blood," she gushed, hot tears flowing down my hand.
