I blacked out, that must have been it. I blacked out before my death, and then I died.
I opened my eyes slowly, and blinked. The club's lights strobbed above me, and I thought my spirit would spring right out of my corpse any second and find Sarah. The music had been muted, and my back hurt.
I wasn't dead.
Realizing this, my eyes shot around, to find faces crowding over me. The first one I saw was mountain, and smiled up at him. "Mountain!"
He smiled back at me, before laying me down on my back, letting me sit up on my own. "Hello, Maya."
Looking around me, I placed a hand to my head, "Did you save me?"
Nodding, he handed me a drink, a drink I hadn't realized I absolutely needed until he held it in front of me. "We can't have you committing suicide on us, gatto selvatico."
Eyebrows drawing together, I shook my head, "I wasn't. The hooks in the ceiling broke."
He laughed, "I know, gattina, I was watching."
I smiled at him, and stood on shaky legs. "Well, duty calls!"
He shook his head at me and laughed as Sarah dragged me away from the scene I had unintentionally created. "What the hell happened? You looked amazing up there, and then suddenly you were free falling through space. You're lucky Michael was paying attention!"
"Yea, about that, where was he? I didn't even see him here earlier," I questioned, setting my cup on the bar, and then leaning against it.
She shook her head, "He was just walking in with Antwon. You're lucky he saw you immediately."
Raising an eyebrow, I pointed to the door leading from upstairs, "That door?"
Nodding, she hopped behind the bar and started making a drink, "What other door would he be coming through?"
"Sarah, there's no way he could've saved me from that door. He'd have to have some inhuman speed." I laughed at the idea, and didn't notice the way she stiffened. "I'm going to get changed, where do you want me?"
She looked up from her drink making and looked me over, "You sure you're okay with working still after that experience?"
Cracking a smile, I held my arms out from my sides, "I look fine, don't I? Just tell me where to go."
Chewing her lip, she looked me over, "Well, okay. You're set to be up in one of the cages next."
Dread grew in me, but I nodded and acted like I was happy about it, "Oki doki, artichokie!" with that, I pranced off to the dressing room.
Donning another corset- this one maroon, I changed into a pair of black panties and another garter set, without the stockings this time. There was just something about loose garter straps running along my legs that made me feel free. Skipping the shoes, I looked at myself in the mirror.
I looked sickly. The blood was drained from my skin, causing my freckles to stand out, and my eyes to look haunted. I had lost weight since coming down here, but not in a bad way; I was more toned than I had been in a while. Shaking my head, I fixed my makeup and hair, and caught site of a woman in the mirror.
