I slept the whole road trip, and no one tried to wake me. I wasn't a happy camper if woken.
We made stops in a couple different places, but never stopped for too long. Only small pit stops for bathroom breaks, snacks, or actual food. We were headed to California. L.A. to be exact. That's a whole day's trip, and I wasn't going to be the last one there.
The Summit was to be held in the ballroom of some fancy hotel, and I felt bad being one of the only packs to not book rooms in that same hotel, but I was trying to save for certain things for my members. I knew the ones I brought with me understood, but inside I still felt like I wasn't giving them what they deserved.
Sighing as Sarah shook me awake, I groaned. "Already? Jesus, did we break the speed barrier coming here?"
Laughing, Lorance, one of the other fighters I brought with me replied, "You slept practically the whole time. I've never seen so many flies go into someone's mouth in such a short amount of time."
Rolling my eyes, I snapped at him. All those in the vehicle laughed at my expense and I threw the door open. "Screw you guys!"
A chorus of laughs followed me as I walked into the lobby of the hotel we would be staying in. Rubbing my forehead, I stood at the counter awkwardly. Waiting for someone to come, I raised my arms above my head and stretched, my back popping as I bent backwards.
Yawning, my eyes closed as I enjoyed the stretch. A voice across the counter I heard someone clear their throat and my eyes snapped open. A girl on the other side of the counter stood chomping a huge piece of gum. She blew a bubble and popped it obnoxiously, "Are you finished?"
Lifting a lip at her, I growled back, "Are you?"
She rolled her eyes and began pressing some keys, "Do you have a reservation?"
"Yup," I leaned against the counter, "under Maya."
Her fingers began clicking away furiously and popped her gum again, "Four rooms? Two beds each?"
Setting my chin down on my arms I mumbled, "Should be five."
She made a disgusted noise, "Whatever, yea there's five. Card?"
Standing straight I handed over my credit card. She swiped it and handed it back, along with five different room keys. "Enjoy your stay!" she snapped, along with the pop of her gum.
I smiled widely at her, and walked back out to the two vehicles of pack members. "Well, gents and lady," I winked at Sarah, "here are the room keys."
One by one they took the keys and began unloading their bags. Smiling, I parted ways with them and grabbed my own three bags that Sarah had packed for me. Closing the hatch to our SUV, I turned to her and smiled, "Let's go!"
Smiling back at me, she led the way back into the hotel and to the elevator. "Looks like the men didn't take it," she said sarcastically as we waited for the doors to open.
I laughed, "They are probably lazier than I am, and you know it."
She shook her head, and the doors dinged open. We were about to step in when two men in suits walked out. They smelled of gun powder and cigars, and my lip curled upwards immediately. Stepping inside behind Sarah, I turned just as the doors were closing and found the two men staring right at me.
