Days here really didn't change, but the day before the Summit was to be held, I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Seriously, I was running to and from houses trying to find people and tell them they were going with me, or what to bring. I was running around my own house attempting to pack. What would you wear to a Summit?

I didn't know, but Sarah came to save me before I totally lost my mind. She carefully unpacked my bags, and repacked them with fancy dresses that still had tags on them. She packed high heels, and fancy make-up pouches I had never seen before.

Groaning, I watched on, "Are you serious? This is a fancy event?"

She laughed, "Incredibly fancy, Alpha. You will need to look your best, and hold your head high to show you are meant to be there. There will be Alpha's from all over there."

Slumping down on my bed I murmured, "Go with me?"

She clucked her tongue, "If I do I won't have as much fun. They will know I am low in my pack, and will outcast me."

Growling, I snapped up, "We have no ranks in this pack."

It was one of my first rules. No matter what rank you were before, or thought you were, you were equal here. We were one pack, and we were all in it together, we were separated by ranks. I knew other packs had heard, and looked down on me for it, but I didn't care. Standing, I began to pace.

"You will go. You will be by my side all night, and day. If someone makes a comment about you, you tell me," I growled, continuing to pace. I would set an example. I would show those Alpha's that thought they were the best that they weren't.

I was.

She nodded slowly, and I began spouting off names of those I wanted to go with, and she tried to keep up. "I want Charles to go with, as well," I muttered, recalling the older man from the Basement who helped me... the one without a tongue.

Sarah made to comment on that last fact, and I shrugged, "Then people will have to interrupt his growls. I can, they can too." Knowing not to fight me on anything, she just nodded as I began to rattle off a few more names.

I knew I would be one of the smallest groups, but I didn't care. I would take those that I wanted. I knew none in my pack would fight me on it. I would leave my most powerful back to protect those that needed protecting; like the children, those with children, and the older wolves that were reaching their ends. I would protect them.

Sarah made a comment about this too, worrying for my safety, and I chuckled, "I am sure I can handle myself just fine."

She shrugged at my comment, and reached into my closet, pulling a box out with her one her way back out. "What is this?" she questioned, holding it away from her.

Growling, I jumped on the bed and then down next to her, before I snatched the box from her hands, "No touchie."

Hands in the air in surrender, she laughed, "Okay, crazy!"

Lifting a lip, I carefully shoved the box back where she found it, before I muttered, "You do your thing, and then go get packed. I will go find some of those I want with me... ya, you do your thing." Flustered, I got out of there as fast as I could. Running from my problems.

Making my way outside, I walked my way from houses to the workout fields. I found Charles and Miguel there, and let them know they were going with. Both of them seemed surprised, and I smiled at them. From there, I went to find Cecil, who had brought her family here.

She smiled at me kindly, when she opened her door, and I bowed my head at her. "Alpha, come in!"

Shaking my head, I kindly declined, "Please, Cecil. It is fine. I just came to ask if you wanted to come to the Summit with me?"

Gasping, her hand covered her heart, "Oh, Alpha..."

Knowing her answer I smiled, "It is okay to say no, Cecil. I understand completely."

Nodding, her hands fluttered around as she tried to explain, "James is sick and Lilian isn't feeling the best either. I would leave them at their grandparents, but I know that they planned a mini vacation for the next couple of days..."

"It really is fine, Cecil," I opened my arms to hug her, and she fell in. I could feel the tears start to leak through my shirt, and knew she was having a tough time dealing with things lately. A few weeks back I had a new unmated werewolf come to my doorstep, asking to be a part of the pack. I had let him stay in a spare house, and let my pack decide. More of a trial.

He ended up being Cecil's second. She was shocked when the pull hit, but I could see it the second he stepped onto my doorstep. She was scared, and I didn't blame her. Softly, I whispered, "Cecil."

Sniffling, she pulled away from me to look me in the eyes, "Yes Alpha?"

My smile was soft, "Give Alan a chance, okay? I know it's hard... but you both deserve it."

Her cheeks colored red, and she nodded. I smiled and bid her goodbye, before going to find the last four people I wanted to take with me.

Most would bring their whole pack, but my pack didn't have that much money for transportation. It also made no sense to put my whole pack someplace where we were uncomfortable, and didn't know the layout. A small group was smart.

Reliable.

I found my four and invited them along. Two were older gentlemen and kindly refused my offer, wanting to spend time with their grandchildren or mate. I smiled and told them not to get too rowdy while I was away. Both laughed at me and went back to their game of chess.

Walking away, I rolled my eyes. The summit was tomorrow, and we would be leaving in a few hours. I hated driving now.

I really really despised it.

Sighing, I walked slowly back to my house, and walked through the door. My bags were stacked in the living room, and Sarah's pile of bags were also thrown about. Rolling my eyes, I walked into my room to find her spread out on my bed.

"What are you doing?" I questioned her, and she snapped into a sitting position, my home phone dropping from her fingertips.

"Nothing!" she squeaked, and hopped up from the bed, snatching the phone.

Somewhere on the other end of the line, I heard a voice talking loudly, and I growled. "Sarah Ann Latson, who the fuck did you call from my home phone?"

Bounding towards her, she dodged me and I growled. She squealed, and jumped over the bed. We were facing each other with the bed between us, and both stood at the ready to move if the other moved an inch.

"I didn't call anybody, Alpha," she said truthfully, and held herself stiff.

I raised an eyebrow and fake lunged at her. Jumping in the air, she let out another squeak and I laughed, "Well who called me?"

Her own eyebrows pinched together and she replied, "No one important," before bring the phone in front of her face and clicking some buttons.

Growling, I lunged at her for real, but she saw it coming and dodged, throwing my phone on my bed before exiting the room. Muttering under my breath I grabbed the phone and scrolled through the recent calls. I couldn't find any from today, and realized that she must have deleted it.

I rolled my eyes and threw the phone down on my bed.

Somewhere outside my house, I heard vehicles pull up and male voices laughing. Sighing, I knew it was time to hit the road.
