Avery

Two weeks had past by, and me and Cameron were both released. Our injuries had healed, except for both of our broken legs.

Our legs would take another few months in order to make a full recovery.

In the past weeks, me and Cameron barley spoke to each other either.

I would always talk about how Jack really DID try to kill me. But Cameron just thought I was full of baloney.

Even the nurses and secretary's didn't believe me! Everyone just thought I was crazy, and that I was just having very vivid nightmares.

But I'm positive that it happened. It was real!

"Bye Avery!" The doctor had said to me, as I walked out of the hospital doors.

As I stepped foot out of the hospital, cool, fresh air immediately blew against my face.

It felt refreshing and nice. Smelling the stinky hospital room for an entire three weeks drove me crazy! So it was nice to breath fresh air.

"C'mon dear". Gina had said, looking back at me.

I look up at her and smile.

Gina was nice enough to drive me back home, considering my parents were both at work.

We walked across the parking lot, to Gina's black, Chevy Equinox.

Noah was sitting in the passengers seat, up front, which meant me and Cameron had to squish together in the back seat.

"I got it sweetie". Gina says, opening up the door for me.

I thank her with a smile, as she helps me up into the vehicle.

I set my crutches down on the floor and did up my seatbelt.

I decided to do it extra tightly, and gave it a tug.

I had to admit, I was pretty anxious to be riding in a car again. My forehead sweat, and my hands became clammy.

Gina then walks over to the other side of the car, and helps Cameron in.

Cameron climbs in into the seat beside me. Our shoulders were only centimetres apart.

He tightly does up his seatbelt, and tugs on it too.

Looks like he was nervous too.

Gina then gets in, and backs out of the parking lot.

She began driving off, down the busy road.

My hands clenched onto the cushioning seats, trying to hold on tightly.

Cameron peers over at me and notices me.

He stares at me, looking back and forth between my face and my clenched hands.

I felt him rest his own on top of mine. His hands were as sweaty as mine were.

I looked over at him and gave him a friendly smile.

The car ride was completely silent.

No one said a word. The only sounds that were heard were the rumbling sounds of the tires against the rocky road.

It was quite awkward.

The radio wasn't even on, which made it even weirder.

Cameron's thumb rubbed tiny circles on the top of my hand.

It felt comforting, and it made me less nervous.

Even though I was still mad at him, I let him hold my hand.
