I exactly knew who it was that grabbed my arm. It was Nathan and it seemed that he brought with him his adept monster, Theo. "Let's eat brunch," he said.
"Handsome, classy, angelic, courtly, fine, graceful—" Steph described like he was rapping, but his words got cut off when Bea covered his mouth. "She can if you'll let us come!"
"Uh?" I mumbled.
"Okay then," Nathan forwardly said with his prince-smile.
"Yas!" Steph exclaimed, but Alex said something. "Sorry, me and Stephen can't go because we're gonna attend a meeting in ten minutes," she said.
"Class rep?" Nathan asked. She nodded as she pulled Steph, going away. Steph was just arguing that it's not Stephen, but Steph. He shouted before they finally disappeared from our eyes, "Is he your boyfriend?!"
My jaw-dropped, "Jake, that's not true."
Jake shrugged, "None of my business."
"I don't want to go with you," I told Nathan. "I'm not even hungry."
"Oh really?" he asked.
I was about to say yes, but my tummy grumbled. "Yes..?" So I ended up replying unsurely with my questioning tone.
He laughed and then grabbed me to the canteen with Jake, Theo and Bea. Four eyes was hesitant at first, but Bea pulled him. So we just sat there and the staffs of the canteen surprisingly served us breakfast. We normally line up.
"Say," I said. "How did the guard let you in?"
"Connections." He simpered, "You know we're one of the donors here." I just raised my eyebrows along with my shoulders.
"Why did you leave us?" Monster asked as if he was a crybaby.
"I would've been later if I didn't," I answered. "Besides, the two of you were pathetically sleeping."
"But breakfast is the most important meal of the day," Theo added.
Bea raised her hand, "I agree with Theo." I just rolled my eyes.
"Hey!" He suddenly smirked while we were eating, "Is that your toy?" Nathan pointed to four eyes.
I stuttered.
"I am not her toy," Jake stood up with his hands slamming on the table. After that, he left quickly. I tried to chase him until I reached the slope, I didn't know which way to go – to the left, to the right, I didn't know.
Hatred covered my heart, but I know it'll just be for a mean time for I always forgive easily – that's something I suppose, but that's also something about myself that I despise for some reason.
I went straight ahead to the corner most shelf of the library as I was sulking. I just wanted to sit on my sad corner and be sad.
After a while, my phone beeped – Nathan texted me: "Little Abby, I decided to message you since I know you won't ever answer my call. I know you're not gonna reply, but I don't know what's the big deal about my question."
Seriously?! Doesn't he know what's with that question or is he just playing humongous good for nothing dumb?! He's clever, I know that. Though he was never smart enough to use his cleverness.
I threw my phone right after I read his text message to my front. Flabbergastingly, the librarian was passing by that I accidentally hit her with my phone. "Sorry miss! It wasn't my intention," I shouted.
The librarian hushed like a snake. "Miss Autenberry," she enunciated. She knew my name because I've always been here to help her put all the books back. "Although I know you've been very helpful, but rules are rules. You know you'll be banned from going to the library for two weeks."
She's miss Montgomery, the strictest of the strictest librarian. I decided to apologize as soon as possible, "I'm very sorry miss. I don't want to stay out from here for two weeks. I swear to do anything!" I solemnly said with my right hand raised.
"Clean the library tomorrow, whole day," she said. And so it was settled.
When I went home, I threw my bag directly at that ugly monster. "You dumbass!"
"What?"
"Why are you here in the first place?!" I interrogated. "You always cause me trouble! Just what do you want?! Just stay away from me!" I ranted because I was just really mad.
His face looked gloomy, "What's bad about my question?"
"You shouldn't have asked that!"
He bowed his head a little in disbelief with his eyes still looking at me, "Why? Is it because truth hurts?"
"You made him mad from me! Just everything you do, even a single text, brings me trouble. Now I have to clean the library tomorrow because I accidentally hit that strict librarian with my phone!"
He looked pissed for he already put his hands on his waist, "Wow," he expressed. "I was just asking. You know, all of those are just the results of your doings!"
I didn't reply to him, instead I just glared at him. He continued, "He is really your toy. Now how did that become my fault confirming for truth's sake?! It's not even my fault if you threw your phone at that librarian. I was just asking you questions, and all you were was a bull hating the innocent red-colored fabric." He walked out.
I gripped my hands as tears were rushing down to my face. For I cry when I'm mad, and rarely when I'm sad.
As soon as I got to my room, I felt the urge to message four eyes. When I was about to type, I ran out of words. I didn't know, I just don't know. So I just left the moment hanging with empty unexpressed words.
The next morning, I woke up early before the alarm. I got up and prepared quickly so I won't get to meet that monster. Everyone was bowled over to see me early in the morning.
When I got to school, I went directly to the library and started my duty. It seemed that I forgot my mask so I kept on sneezing. I had no choice, but to endure and prepare for a sleepless night later because I know allergy will attack me.
After an hour, Bea unanticipatedly went to me. She offered me a mask, "So you won't get those unpleasant allergy attacks."
"Thank you!" I said with a smile.
"It's from Nathan by the way," she said as she closed the door and left.
"I'm mad, I'm mad, I'm mad," I reminded myself. I'm a self-proclaimed person with a high pride. I was sulking that I ended up making the books fall unto me, ugh.
In the afternoon, while cleaning I found a glasses similar to Jake's. I looked around and it seemed that there's no owner so I kept it.
With my clumsiness and lack of height, I tried to climb on the wooden ladder to reach those high shelves. I was about to put the heavy books with my hands fully stretched and my toes tiptoeing, but when I saw Jake entering the library, I got out of balance and fell from the high steps to the floor.
"Are you okay?" four eyes ran towards me.
"I'm okay," I answered. "Where's your glasses?"
"I thought I left it here yesterday," he said.
I showed him the glasses I found, "Is this it?"
"Yes," he answered. "Thanks."
"No prob," I answered as I tried to rise up, but I couldn't move my feet. Tears were abruptly streaming down my face, "My feet."
"I'll help you stand," he said. I looked at him and his face looked worried, or maybe pitied me. I sobbed, "No, no! It hurts."
He panicked, there was nobody else in the library. After all, it's already late in the afternoon and everybody was busy for the school festival. "I'll carry you to the school clinic," he said.
