--- Addy's POV ---
When we got back from the restaurant I went straight to my room without a word to Alex. I picked up my phone and called Lucas, I hadn't been in contact with him since he left so I felt it was a good idea to make sure he got back okay.
Hello?
Hey Lucas it's me
Addy I've been meaning to call you since I got back
Same
Are you okay?
Yeah I miss you though
I miss you too
Did you get back alright?
Yes the flight wasn't too bad and I got back in time for a few hours sleep before work
I hope you're not working too hard you'll get ill
I'm fine I enjoy it
Good
How are things your end then?
Great we went out for dinner tonight it was really nice
I'm sad I missed that
So am I
And the boys are treating you well?
Yeah they're lovely
We talked for another hour or so and then it started to get late and he had work the next day so I let him go. Calling him felt almost like a chore and I was relieved when I threw my phone down on the bed. My eyes started to get heavy so I got ready for bed and tried to get some sleep. Four hours later I woke up sweating and tangled in my bed sheets from another nightmare. I peeled myself from my bed and decided to go sit in the backyard to cool off.
It was a clear night and the stars were clearly visible as I sat down at the patio table, there was a cool breeze but it was refreshing against my clammy skin. I breathed out deeply as I thought about everything that had happened, I'd had a stressful day which was probably the cause of the nightmare. The doctor I saw in LA had said that the bad dreams were triggered by stress and referred me to a therapist who helped me "de-stress" my lifestyle as much as possible. Obviously with Alex back in my life I'd had an increase in stress levels leading to bad dreams and sleepless nights.
I heard a noise behind me and turned to find the main cause of my stress stepping through the patio doors. He stopped walking when he saw me and stood awkwardly a little way away from me, once again he was wearing nothing but boxers. Luckily this time I had a small pair of shorts on with a tank top. Although I had more clothes on than last time, the outfit was probably more revealing and I felt really exposed.
'Can I help you?' I looked at him
'I came down for a drink and saw the doors were open so I came to investigate' he replied
'It's just me' I shivered
'It's cold out' he said 'You should come back inside'
'I'm happy here' I shrugged
'I think we should talk' he sighed
'I don't' I looked away from him
'But you said we should' he stepped closer
'Well I changed my mind' I folded my arms
'Addy' he sighed again
I looked down at my hands and realised that I was being a bitch so I stood up and went back inside with him following me. I went through to the kitchen and poured myself a glass of water and then Alex sat down at the island beside me.
