Jaye's POV

We consumed our remaining days finishing our final project and practicing. I've never been so happy in my life because Naddie is always with me. I can say that our friendship is somewhat delicate. There are times that I would think, what if I admitted my feelings for her? Would it be the same? I don't know. What if I only had the courage to tell her? What if I made a different choice then? Would it be the same? Sometimes, it's brave to ask what if but I think it's braver and it's tougher to ask what is because "what is" is the present, "what is" is what matters the most, and you should embrace the "what is" in your life.

Today, is the pageant. We have been preparing for this day for like a week and now it's finally here. Naddie texted me a while ago and said she's on her way.

After five minutes, she arrived. She never change, she's still the same girl I've fallen in love with. She wears that smile on her face that she barely gives to everyone except for the people who are close to her life.

"Jaye!", she walked towards me and gave me a quick hug. I blushed. I'm still affected by those simple act of her. If only she knows how it affects me. If only she knows how hard it is to keep my feelings for her when she's acting like that.

"Hi Naddie, you ready?", I said casually and smiled to her.

"Yes I am. Well, let's just enjoy this until it's over okay? I'll just look for Jonathan. Wait, I would like you to meet him. Why don't you just come?", I was just about to speak when she hold me by the hand and pulled me to where she was going.

This place is crowded.

"Jonathan!", she shouted to a guy. He's tall, his physique is great and he has long hair but not a mushroom head like mine. The guy could pass as a model because of his looks. He has small eyes, straight and pointed nose and a small, full lips. In short, he's handsome. I don't know but I felt insecured, I felt down. Who am I to compete with him. Although, Naddie told me that he's like a brother to her, but the way he looks at Naddie, I know that he's smitten by her, I mean, who wouldn't? Naddie is close to perfection.

"Hi Alexis!", he said, kissed Naddie on the cheek and hugged her. Alexis. I don't know but I felt jealous when he called her that name. They must be really, really close.

"Jonathan, this is my friend, Jaye", Naddie introduced as to one another. He extended his hands for a shake and I grabbed it.

"Hi Jonathan", I said in the most casual way looking straight into his eyes. His grip is so tight and his eyes is stucked in mine like he was saying "back-off man, she's mine".

"Hi Jaye, you are very lucky to have persuaded Naddie, I mean she's very aloof to guys and she is very hard-headed and crazy", he told me when we finished shaking. He was laughing while saying those and would turn his gaze to Naddie and me.

"Hey Nathan, stop it okay?", Naddie said while laughing.

"Uhm, I know what you are saying, she's aloof, yes but all the things that I did just to make friends with her all worth it. She's worth the wait", I looked at Naddie and I could see that she flushed.

"Really? Well, I couldn't agree more! Anyway, Naddie, you should go to the backstage now, did you received my gift?", He asked Naddie. What gift? Is Naddie's birthday today? But I thought it's on October 31st? I just shook that off.

"Nathan, yes I received it and it's beautiful, you shouldn't have done that. I mean this is a competition and it would really be awkward to use that dress since you're one of the judges. But thank you, thank you so much." , she told him gratefully. That's the time I realized that she is holding something in her left arm, that could be the dress, I thought.
