I opened my eyes slightly only to close them shut again. The sun was out and quite blinding. My head was pounding and my mouth was dry.

Wait.... Where am I? I look around but my vision is blurry. I look down and see I'm lying down in a small bed. The room looked like a school nurse room. There are a few other beds and a small sink with medical tools sitting on the counter.

I started to sit up when I felt a stabbing pain in my right arm. I winced in pain and held my arm. I looked down and removed my hand to look at what caused the pain.

A fearful gasp left my lips. My forearm had a huge gash. Shades of blue, purple and red spread over my freckled skin. I studied the wound, not at all enjoying the site.
The pattern of colors made out a shape. A....a bite mark?

Suddenly my mind flashed images of the events that took place last night. The last thing I could remember was a black monster lunging toward me and someone's voice. "Don't worry. It's all a bad dream." The voice told me.

Was it a dream? No it can't be. I mean I still have this horrible wound and I know that's real. Wait. Maybe I'm still in the dream. No, no, no! This is not happening. This ca-

My thoughts were cut short by the sound of footsteps. I opened my eyes and looked over toward the door. I may have slightly panicked. I started to shift in the small bed.

"Hey! Your not supposed to be awake!" A voice shouted. A familiar voice. I turned around slowly. I locked eyes with the young man in the doorway. He seemed mad, confused and a little worried at the same time.

He was quite tall, but no more than 2 feet taller than me. He had chocolate brown hair that was thick and full. His hair covered his eyes only slightly. He had beautiful blue eyes, striking actually. His eyelashes were long. He was slim and wore a black, long sleeved sweater with black skinny jeans and dark vans.

My eyes continued to rank over his body until he cleared his throat. I caught myself and my eyes meet his again. I blushed and looked down at the floor. I cleared my features, showing no sighs of emotion. I looked back at him. "What do you mean I'm not supposed to be awake? Last time I checked, I control my own sleeping patterns." I said narrowing my eyes into a glare.

He just scoffed at my sass. "Whatever. I clearly didn't give you enough medicine. How do you feel?" He mumbled the first part almost to himself.
"I've been better. You know, my family's missing, I got chased and chomped on by a-a... I don't even know what! Woke up in a hospital bed with a large gash in my arm. And now, now I'm talking to you. Someone I have never seen in my life."

Sass and sarcastic leaked from my voice, but I still felt a hot tear fall down my cheek. He stared straight into my eyes and I stared back. He let out a sigh and started toward the sink. I watched his every move. He got out a small cup and poured water into it. He then turned toward me, still not breaking eye contact.

"Here. Drink some water. You need it." He ordered me. I took the cup and tilted it tho meet my mouth. I stopped just before it did though.

He said something about not giving me enough medicine. What does that mean? The water might have this 'medicine' in it.

I stared down at the cup. I was thirsty, but I don't want anything to happen. I can't let anything happen.
"What are you staring at. It's clean, princess." He stated. I glared at him for the additional 'princess'.
"How do I know that I can trust you. You haven't really proven yourself yet." I stated coldly

"Oh. I thought saving your life was enough to 'prove myself'." He said, adding in quotations.
"When did you save my life?" I spat, not at all amused with his sarcasm.
"Last night." He stated sitting down on the bed. "I came as soon as I heard you screaming. No one as been here for as long as I can remember. That creature that attacked you was a 'nightmare', a monster that feeds off fear."

"Do they all look like that?" I asked.
"Well, no. Most do. You saw that one in its natural form. They are everywhere. They roam around places like these, dark and empty. They were pushed to places like this because people stared facing there fears. That's exactly why you shouldn't be here. Your not fit to live here." He explained.

This was all to much. I had so many questions. Nightmares? What the heck!? Did they take my family? Was I going to die? Was...was this guy a nightmare?

I looked up at him. "Fine then. Show me the way out and I'll leave." I stated firmly. "It's not that easy. You know about this place now. You can't go around telling the world about it."

"What do you want from me!? I don't want to stay here anymore than you want me too! I want my family. I want to go home and never talk about this again!" I shouted. I took a deep breath.
"I-I JUST WANT TO WAKE UP!"

I could feel warm tears start to fall from my eyes. "H-hey! Don't cry." He stuttered. I wiped my cheeks with the back of my hand. The health one, of course.
"I'm not crying." I said simply. "Yes you are." He reached his hand up to my cheek.

I stared at him. His eyes were soft and sweet. Our eyes meet. We both blushed and looked at the ground.
"So, um, I never caught your name." I stated with a smile. He cleared his throat, sitting up.
"Sorry. Um, my name is Alex."
He extended his hand. I took it in my own.
"Well, Alex, I'm Cameron." I told him.

"Alright. I'm done with all this mushy crap. Let's get you out of here before you mess something else up." He said, standing up and walking over to the cabinets over the sink. He pulled out a bandage and walked toward me.

I held my arm and Alex started to wrap it. I gasped when he tied it a bit to tight. "Sorry. Okay stand up. I want you out of here as soon as possible." He said coldly. "Wow. Rude much?" I asked, rolling my eyes and standing.

Just as I stood, my knees felt weak and I couldn't keep my balance. I griped the bed and Alex's arm to keep me from falling completely. "Are you alright? Can you stand?" Alex asked, his words almost worried, but not quite. "I don't know. My knees are stiff." I told him. "Okay, this is normal. Just relax and take a deep breath." He ordered me. I did as I was told, inhaling deeply. "Alright, now stand. Slowly, not all at once.

I started to straighten up and stand. When I was fully up I placed both my hands on Alex's shoulders. I looked up at him. I smiled and giggled slightly. "Okay. Can you walk?" He asked. "Yes." I stated. I let go of him and stated to walk towards the door. Halfway there I decided to go all out. I started to do an over the top catwalk, stopping at the door and turning my head with my hands on my hips. "I can walk." I said, winking and flipping my hair.

When I walked out of the room I almost died laughing. I have literally never acted so stupid and dramatic in my life. But at the same time, it was hilarious.

"Alright, Cam. Ha ha ha. Now let's go." Alex told me as he walk past. I was still holding my stomach from laughing.

"Okay, but where are we going exactly?"
