Alex and I stayed where we were, sitting in the woods. "Their beautiful, aren't they?" Alex spoke up. I whipped my head to look at him. I was still staring at the spot I last saw Uma. I stared at him. He was staring out in the distance. The same place my eyes watched the girls run off.
"Yeah. They really are." I stated, not taking my eyes off of him to watch his reaction. Alex sighed and turned to look at me. "We should get going. You will have to eat....um...... 3 bites of the apple."
"Why don't I just eat it. I don't want it to go to waist." I laughed. "No. You can only take 3 bites." Alex said sternly. I didn't question any further though, just obeying and eating my share of the Apple.
I pressed the shiny, red apple to my lips and opened my mouth for my first bite. I stopped just as my teeth were going to sink into the fruit. "Cameron. 3 bites." Alex ordered me. I looked at him and nodded.
I sunk my teeth in and teared a chunk off. When the flavor sunk in, I couldn't help but moan at it. I blushed and shot my eyelids open. Alex just laughed. It was amazing. Nothing I have ever tasted before. This was no ordinary Apple.
I quickly took another bite. All I wanted was more. "Cameron!" Alex shouted, Just as I was biting another chunk off. "That's enough." I swallowed my last bite. I did only take 3 bites, but I wanted to whole thing. But before I could disobey, Alex snatched the apple from my hands.
I whined and looked at him pitifully. He just shook his head and put it in his bag. He then stood at offered his hand. "B-But, my legs." I stuttered. He smiled down at me, hand still extended. "Trust me. You'll be fine." I reached for his hand and grabbed onto it.
Alex hoisted me up to stand on my own. My legs were still scared and bleeding slightly, but they worked! In fact, I felt better than ever. My arm didn't hurt anymore either. I was smiling like a dork, like I had just been cured of cancer. "God! What was in that Apple?" I giggled, running through the trees.
Alex was smiling at my actions. "Maybe it's best you didn't know." He laughed awkwardly. I stopped in my tracks and looked at him. He just smiled. "Come on. We have another errand to run." I didn't think it was the best choice, but I didn't let the Apple bother me any longer.
We continued to walk through the woods in silence. It wasn't exactly an awkward silence. It was more of a comfortable silence. Like we were both in our own worlds. Just as I continued to think, I saw something in the distance. It was like a little cabin.
As we got closer, I noticed how beautiful it really was. The little building was made by decaying wood, held together by vines and plants. The wood was rapped and surrounded by beautiful flowers. All different colors and types of flowers. I reached down and picked a blue rose. It smelled sweet and soothing.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by Alex clearing his throat. I hadn't even realized that I had closed my eyes, saturating myself in the scent. I looked up, blushing in embarrassment for getting so far gone. Alex just chuckled. He reached A took the rose from my hand. I was about to protest, not wanting to lose the magnificent flower, when Alex moved my hair back and tucked the flower behind my hair.
"It matches your eyes." He stated. "Very pretty."
My eyes were indeed blue, but I never payed much attention to them, and neither did anyone else. I never really liked my physical image. My figure and facial features always annoyed me, so I never really thought about them. I ignored them. My hair was brown and boring. It was slightly curly, but not by much. My cheeks were sprinkled with freckles, which I also hated. I was skinnier than most, which I guess wasn't all that bad, but for some reason still got to me. Boys never payed attention to me, I was invisible, thus they didn't like me and I didn't like them.
