Even after showing the dress off to everyone in the house, I could still feel Alex's eyes on me.We were currently sitting down with tea and chatting. Alex sat to my right while Opal sat straight ahead of me and Rhine on my left. Opal held her cup of tea tensely as she waved it around while sharing an adventuress story. Rhine watched kindly as Opal chattered on. I giggled and listened. But the pair of eyes burning in the back of my head would not go away.
I finally gave up and gave in. I turned my head only slightly, while shifting my eyes more towards the right. And as cheesy and weird as it sounded, time slowed. Opal's talking became fuzzy and all I was focused on was the pair of blue eyes that met mine.
I turned my head fully and stared back. Alex didn't budge. My wide eyes soon narrowed as the staring continued. His narrowed a bit as well, but in a more challenging way. He than perked up and blinked. Then? Well then he smiled warmly and turned his attention back to Opal.
My stomach churned. I felt the tips of my ears begin to burn, the blood finding its way to my cheeks and lighting them up a bright red.
I turned my head quickly so Alex wouldn't see the blush if he stared again. I was to stubborn to let him see he effected me in such a way.
A warm, small laugh pulled me out of my stubborn thoughts. I turn and saw Rhine giggling.
"Alright, Opal. Let's talk about tonight now." Rhine announced. Opal pouted a bit but then was back to chugging tea.
"What about tonight?" Alex asked, probably to pick up on the topic.
"Well, it is going to be sunset soon, and since you are already pretty far from the camp, we thought it might be best if you stayed here tonight?" Rhine ended he thought more so in a question.
I turned to Alex and saw him nodding. I took it as a sign of agreement and my brain already stated getting excited. Then he spoke.
"Yeah, it's a very kind thought, but I need to get her," he gestured toward me with his head. "As soon as possible."
"Where are you going?" Opal asked, her arms folded over her chest.
"End of the woods. To the border." Alex states and took a sip of his tea.
I looked at him in confusion. My eyebrows knitted in the middle. I shook my head and glared at him.
"No you're not." I stated. All six eyes landed on me, Alex's were cold and glaring and Rhine and Opal's asked for more information.
"You're taking me to my parents." I said coldly and sternly.
I glared at Alex and Alex glared right back. After about a minute of this I softened my features, but not towards Alex.
I smiled at Rhine and Opal, who both had equally nervous looks on their faces.
"We would be happy to stay the night. Thank you very much." I said sweetly.
All of a sudden, Alex's long, slender fingers were toughing on my arm roughly. I slapped at his hand and told him to let go of me sternly.
Alex ignored me and plastered another smile on his face for Rhine and Opal.
"Excuse us. I have to talk with the Cameron for a minute." Alex said kindly.
I resisted and tried to pry his fingers off. While my voice continued to rise I felt a sting in my arm from where he was holding me. The stinging began to burn. I screamed in pain and tried harder to get his hand off.
"Alex! Alex let go! It burns!" I screeched.
Alex was snapped out of his scowl and let go frantically. He looked at me in a panic. He stepped closer and held my shoulders.
