After i had calmed down I stomped outside the building to Alex. I saw him standing beside the stairs obviously waiting for me. I looked at him, waiting for him to notice me. He noticed me from the corner of his eye. He turned his head fully around and gave my a wide smile.
Alex confused me. He was grumpy most of the time, but he could also be really sweet and almost shy or sympathetic. He had different sides to himself. But he only showed his sweet side to me when I was sad or realizing something. Why is he here anyway? Did something happen to his family or him in general?
I was snapped out of my thoughts by the sound of Alex clearing his throat. I realized I was staring and blushed and started down the stairs. "Sorry. Let's go." I said, showing no emotion in my words. "Are you alright?" Alex asked, placing a hand on my shoulder just as I walked past him.
I slapped his hand away and turned to face him. "Don't touch me!" I snapped. He flinched away from me and lowered his hand. I was in shock of my own words. I wanted to apologize, but I didn't trust my voice right now. "Fine. Let's get going." He ordered, his harsh tone returning. I looked up at him but I realized that he had already walked ahead.
After a few steps, I remember what exactly we were on our way to do. "Wait, Alex!" I shouted. I stopped and looked around. "What?" He asked, turning and walking back towards me. I continue to look around, almost frantically. "What's wrong?" He asked, his voice slightly concerned. "We need to go to my car" I stated, finally looking him in the eyes. His face dropped and he rolled his eyes. "Cameron. We don't have time." He groaned. I than realized where we where. "Oh hush." I grabbed his wrist and lead him towards the location I was heading. "We have plenty of time."
We walked half way around the building until I spotted it. I gasped at the cars condition. Vines and grass grew all around it, as if it had been sitting there for years. I turned toward Alex, who didn't looked fazed at all. "How long was I really asleep, Alex." I asked fearfully. "Really, only about 24 hours!" He asked throwing his hands up in defense.
I turned back towards the car. I stared at it in confusion. I then became annoyed with its condition. "Than what the hell does it look like this!" I shouted, pointing at it. "I told you, this world changes. It's now normal and that's what happens to items that don't belong." Alex explained, nodding towards the car.
"Fine. Well I need to grab my bag." I walked towards the car, intending to grab the plants and tear them away. "No! Cameron don't touch that!" Alex shouted from behind me. I turned my head to look at him. "Why no-" I was interrupted by something wrapping around my ankle and pulling me down. I screamed and was thrown down against the ground.
I was being pulled towards the car very quickly. The plants started to thrash and grow, emerging from the ground. I pulled at the tight grip on my ankle but I got closer and closer to the terrifying plants. More vines grabbed ahold of me. I looked behind me, bending my neck in an uncomfortable position to make sure to catch a glimpse of what I was looking for.
I caught sight of Alex, fear and determination clear on his face. I smiled slightly before darkness surrounded me from all angles. I gasped for air before being totally taken in by the plantation. Every thing when the completely black after being slammed up against the car window. Shattered glass falling all around me.
I opened my eyes. After realizing where I was my breathing hitched and became heavy. It wasn't very dark, but not light. I could breathe, but not well. There were a few flowers that grew from the grass, really pretty flowers actually. I lifted my hand and to the gash now in my head. Some blood still left the cut, but not very much.
Great, a huge bite mark in my arm from a black monster and now a gash in my head from monster plants.
I needed to get out of this.... Thing. I looked around. I couldn't move my legs, they were surrounded by thorns piercing my skin. I then spotted a red fabric in the grass. My eyes widened in realization. It was my bag!
I tried reaching for it but it was far and the vines tightened around my legs. I crying out at the thorns digging deeper into my leg. I looked around for a stick or something tho help me reach the bag. I reached out again, further, ignoring the piercing pain that shot through my legs. I reached the strap and grabbed onto it. Right then I felt one of the thorns break the skin, drilling into my calf.
I screeched in pain. I continue to scream out as I began to pull the bag closer to me, feeling the vines tighten. The pain became to much and I let go of the bag, relaxing my tense muscles.
It hurts so bad.
It felt as if I had laid there for the longest time, almost falling back asleep. I didn't though. The sound of rustling in the grass woke me up. I opened my eyes, looking around. The dome of plants over my head was cut open, blinding sunlight shining through. I closed my eyes again, trying to adjust to the light.
After opening them again, I saw Alex cutting through the plantation around me. "A-Alex." I whispered. "Shh. It's going to be okay." He whispered back. "Are you hurt at all?" He asked calmly, looking at me. "My head, but mostly my legs. They hurt really bad." I whispered. I feel so weak.
"Okay. Just relax. Your going to be okay." He told me. He began to cut the vines at my legs. When he got through the thick grass laying my legs, he gasped slightly at the sight of my legs.
I looked down at them. They where pierced and bleeding. They looked horrible. "Okay, this is going to hurt. But just relax and don't tense." I nodded my head in agreement. He began the cut and tear at the vines. I screamed out in pain. "Shh. It's okay." He stated calmly, not looking at me.
Tears fell from my eyes as I resisted the urge to scream. "Okay. One more." Alex said, looking me in the eyes and giving me a small smile. He pulled at the final thorn. "Ahh!" I screeched.
"Okay, now we need to get out of here." Alex said, crawling up to me and squatting next to me. He placed his hands on my waist, wrapping his arms around me. I gasped when I felt myself lift off the ground.
"W-what are you doing?" I stuttered out. "I'm carrying you. You can't walk with your legs in this condition." He said. I blushed and looked away. "O-oh." I stuttered again. He just giggle besides me.
After we started to walk, I began to become comfortable in his arms. Just before we left the hell hole of plants, I spotted my bag again. "Wait! My bag!" I began to squirm in his arms, stopping when I felt a pain shoot through my legs. I gasped. "Cam! Calm down. Do you really need it?" Alex asked, looking at the bag. "Yes! It's very important!" I shouted. He sighed, but agreed.
Alex set me down and rushed at getting the bag out of the plants. He threw on his back and picked me up again. After we mad it out of the dome he set me back down on a rock. He handed me my bag and looked me in the eyes.
"There's something I need to do. Just please keep calm. I'll answer your question later." I looked up at him confused. He stood up and walked back towards the car.
Alex's raised his hands and began to wiggle his fingers slightly. He closed his eyes in concentration. I stared at him in confusion. My eyes went extremely wide when I saw the fire beginning to rise from his palm. It grew and grew. After he was happy with the size, Alex rose both his arms and faced them towards the plants. The dome then caught fife and burned to the ground.
Alex turned to me, guilt showing in his eyes. I just stared back at him, eyes wide and mouth hanging open. "Sorry about your car." He said finally. "That's...that's, uh, okay." I said, surprised I was actually able to speak.
