Before stepping out the door, Alex guided me towards a vending machine. "Are you hungry?" He asked without looking down at me. I took a step closer to him to look at my options. "Um... Strawberry pop tart, please!" I said with a smile, looking up at him.

He look down at me now. "What, you don't have any money of your own?" He asked, typing in his own order. My smile dropped and I started to dig through my pockets with a glare. "N-no, I just thought you were offering." I mumbled.

Alex just laugh and walked away with his bag of chips. "Not yet, cupcake." He smirked. I blushed at his blunt flirting. I pulled out a dollar bill and bought my own food.

When I caught back up with Alex I had already taken a bite of the sugary treat. "So now where do we go?" I asked through a mouthful of pastry. "We have to go through the woods and exit this land at the end." He stated. I looked up at him in confusion. I finished off my first pop tart, then spoke. "But the woods aren't that big. You make it sound like a really difficult task." I stated, licking my fingers.

Alex glared down at me as if I was the stupidest human being he's ever come face to face with. "You underestimate the power of this land." He said coldly. My eyes widened at his statement.

Power? What power? What the heck have I gotten myself into?

"What do you mean?" I asked. He kept his stare ahead of him instead of looking at me. "This land changes. It's back in its original form, well it's always been." He explained. "Come on dude! Elaborate!" I shouted, throwing my hands up in frustration.

"This land can change forms. It makes you think you found what you were looking for. Your family was looking for a campsite, so the land changed to the 'perfect getaway' that your dad wanted. In reality, you were just driving through the woods until you ended up here." Alex explained.

This didn't make any sense. This was crazy! So, where am I? Questions! All I have are questions! My family. I need to find my family.

I stopped in my tracks, just as Alex began to open the door. "Alex. Where are you taking me?"
"I'm getting you out of here before you get yourself killed. Now lets go." He said grabbing my wrist. I pulled away and stared him in the eyes. "Where's my family?" I asked. "Cameron. We need to-" "Where is my family, Alex!" I screamed.

He sighed and stepped back into the building. "I don't know. I only found you. I don't know what happened to them or where they went." He explained. My eyes welled up with tears and my body became weak. "Their..... Their d-dead..... Aren't they?" I asked, keeping my gaze on the ground. Alex took a tensive step towards me. He brought his hand up to my head, holding it in his gentle hands.

"There's a possibility, but I don't know." He said, stroking my dark hair. Tears fell from my eyes as I closed them and screamed. I lunged at Alex, clutching his shirt. He was tense at first, but then rapped his arms around me. I cried harder than I ever had in my life.

"I don't want to leave with out them." I stated after I had calmed down a bit. I started to straighten up to look at Alex. "You don't exactly have a choice here, princess." He said, obviously trying to lighten the mood. "Oh but I do. I'm not leaving until I know their dead or alive." I said, exiting his arms.

"Fine. But I'm telling you this now, " he paused and took a step toward the door before turning to look me in the eyes. "Don't get your hopes up." Alex stated before stepping outside.

I stood there. I didn't know what I was feeling. I was mostly sad but I was also filled with rage. Something or someone killed them. They couldn't have just left or disappeared. I was going to find out. And I was going to make sure whatever or whoever did this to them was going to pay.
