Chapter 22

Beckham's POV

I waited for Remy outside of the ballroom. She would probably think it was peculiar that her dad would want to meet her here, but it wasn't strange for me.

A few minutes later I heard the soft padding of footsteps coming down the hallway and knew it was probably hers.

When she saw me standing there, a confused expression flittered across her face before she walked up to me.

"Have you seen King Hugo around here."

"Nope, but we need to go," I responded, thrusting out a jacket towards her.

"I can't. I'm meeting my father here," she shook her head and looked around me, still in search of her Father.

I smiled, a knowing smile that she quickly picked up on. Her mouth turned into a frown and she rolled her eyes.

"You're actually the one I'm meeting? And my father...."

"Just a way to draw you out of your hiding spot," I winked, motioning to her jacket once more so that way we could leave.

Much to my surprise, she turned her back to me and held out her arms.

"Ummm."

"My jacket Isaac," she responded with a tint of annoyance to her voice.

"Of course," I chuckled, moving with awkward motions that I'm sure her maids were use to at this point.

Usually, I was in her place and never had a need to put jackets on other people. I mean, I was a royal myself so I was practically dressed by my servants everyday. There were many things I was learning about Royals now that I wasn't one.

After I had (mostly) successfully put Remy's jacket on her, I was leading her through a maze of hallways that I had finally learned by being here so often. Finally, we made it to one of the backdoors that led away from most of the major driveways.

Just as I stepped out of the doorway, Remy was stopped by the guard keeping watch at the door.

"Princess, King Hugo has sent out word that he is looking for you."

"It's okay," she chuckled looking at me, then back to the guard. "I've already talked to him."

She made a move to walk out of the doorway, but was stopped again.

"I'm sorry Your Highness, but he has also instructed that you be kept in the castle."

Her face instantly turned to fury and I suddenly felt really bad for this guard. She was very powerful both physically and mentally and it was hard being on the receiving end of all that power.

"Thank you. We'll stay in," I smiled at the guard, taking hold of Remy's shoulders and directing her out of arms reach of the guard.

The look in her eyes made me think the guard was going to be demolished if she wasn't led away.

Once she was a safe distance away from the guard, I let go of her shoulders. She stopped walking, closed her eyes, and let out a deep breath, like she was trying to stay calm.

"Let me go meet with my father and I'll be right back."

I didn't even have time to respond before she spun around and made a beeline for the main hallway.

"Don't mind me. I'll just be here," I mumbled, looking around me at my surroundings. I needed Remy to go with me so that way I could get a fresh perspective on this symbol that I found. It was similar to the one that I found earlier when Isaac and I were out with Remy and her friend on Thanksgiving. I had tried multiple times to send pictures of it to Eb, but the full quality of it never really showed. I needed someone else to see it in person.
