Chapter 1
Beckham's POV
"I don't know about this man. I mean, King Hugo and Princess Renoford have met us both before. Don't you think they'll know I'm not the prince," Isaac nervously voiced for the hundredth time.
He was pacing the floor in my room and completely freaking out for no reason. This was a great plan.
At least, I hoped it was.
"No, look," I reasoned, trying to calm my best friend down. "I've already worked this out with my dad and I don't know what he worked out with King Hugo, but it's fine. You know I have to do this. I don't have another choice."
"I've told you. I can do all the work and you can stay in the castle, where you are suppose to be in the first place. This is a terrible idea," he said, still freaking out.
"Isaac, how many times do I have to say this. You don't have the resources or a Father breathing down your neck. Just because you're my best friend doesn't mean you have the entire kingdom at your disposal. Look, you don't have the marry the princess," I paused. "Most likely," I mumbled. "Just make an appearance for me and next thing you know, we'll be celebrating our victory. Easy."
He finally stopped pacing and put his hands on his face. He gave an aggravated groan and I knew I had won.
"Fine. Fine. You win Beck, but I better get something out of this," he grumbled. "I'm going to go get some food. Stress makes me hungry," Isaac muttered, then stomped out of my room.
I laughed at his childish behavior, then decided I should probably call Nate.
I pulled out my phone and typed in his name. I called Nate so frequently that his number quickly popped up on my screen.
He picked up on the third ring.
"So how'd it go," he immediately questioned.
"He agreed to do it so go ahead and set the plan in motion. And also call Daniel to let him know about the plan. He'll want to help."
"I'll get it done. Just make sure Isaac's ready. We can't having him blowing the cover on the first day."
"He'll be fine. Just worry about setting everything up. I gotta go, but let me know when everything is good to go."
"Will do," he repeated. "Call you later Beckham."
"Later," I said before hanging up.
Well, that was a huge relief. I didn't want to call Nate around Isaac because I knew how much they hated each other. Isaac was already stressed enough, I didn't want him freaking out about Nate too.
I pushed myself off my bed and walked down the maze of hallways that led to the kitchen.
I could hear Isaac banging around dishes in there trying to fix something to eat. He always hated having the cooks make him food when we weren't eating formally. I, however, could not cook worth a lick so I always had the cooks make me food.
Or Isaac.
I walked into the kitchen and saw one of the counters was already full of food that Isaac was making. When Knox noticed me, he quickly came over to take my order.
"Your Majesty, can I make you anything?"
"Yes, an egg, cheese and bacon omelet."
He nodded, then I added, "With some chives on the side as well."
"Of course, Your Majesty. Would that be all?"
"Yes. Thanks, Knox."
He nodded again then scurried over to the breakfast refrigerator to start making my food.
