"Coffee?" I ask Louise as she walks downstairs, "yes please." She smiles, going into the lounge room. I start boiling the kettle then join her on the couch. "Merry Christmas Eve!" Jack shouts, stomping down the stairs. "Trying to sleep!" Tom's muffled voice calls from another part of the house, "Tom is such a grinch" Louise scoffs and Jack agrees with her. "I should probably start Christmas shopping..." I think aloud, "you haven't started? Lila, it's Christmas tomorrow." Louise says, staring at me surprised while Jack shakes his head, laughing slightly.
I scan the isles, looking for good gifts. I've already bought Hazel a big pack of nail polish, Dan (Layton) a cookbook, Tom a couple of graphic novels and Louise a bunch of activities her and Darcy can do, now all I need to do is find a gift for Jack. Suddenly I get an idea, I quickly go to the sweets isle and grab soft drink, chocolates and popcorn.
I tell Dan and Tom about my idea and ask them to pick some of Jack's absolute favorite movies (preferably ones he hasn't seen in a while). "You know how many movies Jack loves, right?" Dan asks and I nod. "That's the point, it'll be like a movie day." I shrug, "he is going to looove you after this" Tom laughs. "Who's going to love who?" Jack asks when he enters the room. "Your mum!" Tom yells before sprinting out of the room. "Okay... Lila, wanna go for a walk?" Jack asks, not looking very fazed by Tom's outburst. "Sure, I just need to chuck on my shoes."
"Lila!" Someone calls out to me, making me tighten my grip on Jack's hand. I turn around and face Harry, "didn't think I'd see you again so soon" he does his trademark grin that teenage me would've gone crazy for. "Hi" I say back, not as confidently as I would've liked. "I wanted to express how sorry I am for leaving you when we were younger, honestly." There was no empathy in his voice, no true empathy anyway. "There isn't anything I wouldn't give to be with you again, like the way we were before, what we would do before... There is something special about your first, you know?" The tone of his voice made me feel sick, it was like pretty much every sociopath in every horror movie combined. "Obviously not." Jack pipes up, Harry looks at Jack surprised, like he didn't even notice Jack was there till he spoke. "And why not?" All of Harry's attention is on Jack now, "because she isn't spending the rest of her life with her first, is she?" He doesn't reply to Jack's and casts his eyes to our linked hands, "are you her last?" "I don't know, but I know it sure as hell won't be you." Jack snaps and I squeeze his hand slightly. Harry turns around and begins walking away, "we'll see." He mutters under his breath.
"Are you okay?" Jack asks, turning his full attention to me. "Yeah, I'm fine." "Okay. If you ever see him again please be careful." I nod, slightly smiling at his caring tone."Was Harry your first for... Everything?" Jack asks when we stop to sit on a park bench, "what? No! What he said back there was probably just to get on your nerves." I tell him. "Okay... Sorry." I move closer to him, "you have nothing to say sorry over." I tell him before pulling him closer and kissing him.
Hey guys, sorry this chapter is a bit shorter than normal (and sort of a filler). Anyway, I've decided to post an update on Christmas Eve (today), Christmas and Boxing Day. (Although it will be according to Australian time).
Thanks for reading!
