Pawn of the Demons

a true friend?

Her name was Valarie, she was an ordinary sixteen year old high school teen. She never had friends and never knew why? She was a loner or at least she used to be...she now had a friend, were they close? maybe, was he a good friend? so far yes, was he a true friend? well the question of his honesty made her think carefully about how it all happened...

it was the autumn season last year, she was in her school garden reading a book. that was when he came to her, she never knew what about her took over his attention, usually she seemed to be invisible to all. No one hated her, but no one liked her either. He came to her, a nice, decent looking guy with brown hair and hazel eyes. He sat next to her under the tree where she was and said, "you dont mind me sitting here do you?"

"No, its fine."

He smiled and after a while he asked, "what are you reading?"

"Chemistry, ugh, i dont get a word."

"Maybe i can help you"

"You good at Chemistry?"

"I guess, here let me see," he took the book from her and began to read. that was when she payed attention to who the boy was, he had a look of kindness in his eyes that made her blush for a second. they had some classes together but she felt bad to not know his name. just then he looked up and said, "i'm Isaac,by the way" he extended his hand

"I'm Valarie," she replied and after some hesitation she shook his hand. After that he began to explain chemistry and over time their friendship evolved. first chemistry tutions, then they began to sit next to each other in class, then the were hanging out whenever free, they became closer and closer and like that over a year flew by. But it was then she began to feel a distance between them.

she had shared everything of her personal life with him but Isaac didnt. she began to feel like she didnt really know him. she never saw him after school and new nothing of his life outside school. everytime she asked something personal he would hesitate in answering and when he did answer, there was a change in his tone that indicated that he was reluctantly lying to her. then she also began to note how different he behaved when he was unaware of her watching him. she knew him to be a nice, gentle and a humble person but at times she caught him acting in a completely opposite way. once she saw him ignorantly pushing his way through the crowd with a frown on his face. then she also found him sending rude comments to those who bothered him. she even tried to ask him about it once but he completely denied it and so she never bothered to ask again. it was after that she lost her faith in him.

she didnt understand what was wrong with him and after wondering about why he behaved like this, she came to realize that he might have feelings for her. why else would he pretend to be a good person around her while actually he wasnt. and then there was this look in his eyes for her that made her believe in her theory...
