Valarie focused more on school now and less on her complicated friendships with Ian and Isaac. She saw neither of them much during the exams. She stayed focused but she missed the fact that Isaac was no longer there to help her study. They would spend most time together during exams, discussing papers before and after the exam. They would spend a lot of time studying together but not anymore.
Even if she wished Isaac was there for her, he hardly was now. She had created a gap between herself and him and he seemed to be avoiding making things worse by attempting to cross the line. Had he given up on their friendship as well?
No, there was something else. He had stopped coming to school. She wondered if she should contact him to make sure everything was okay but she couldn't muster the courage to send one small text. That's how complicated things had become between them and now it felt like it was too late. It was almost as if she didn't want to bother anymore...deep down she had wanted this and was glad about it.
Finally, she came across him after school one day as she was returning home after an exam. She saw him walking outside and she instantly wanted to go after him and ask why he hadn't been coming to school but he kept on walking ahead without noticing her following him. She slowly started to feel suspicion and tried to lay low as she followed him. He walked into a quieter street where there was a building under construction. There seemed to be more people there so she tried to spy on him from some other place. She climbed up the stairs of a nearby apartment building and watched Isaac from one of the windows. She saw the unfamiliar young people, who looked like scary gangsters, greet Isaac. They spoke in a hushed tone and it was impossible for her to hear what they were talking about.
Then suddenly she noticed a young weak boy cowering in a corner surrounded by similar gangster like people. A hooded girl approached Isaac and whispered something in his ear after which he nodded and began to beat the already shaken small boy.
Valarie was startled by shock of what she saw. Isaac was beating a helpless boy with no mercy as the other people cheered him on. This was worse than him being a bully to a nerd...he was now a part of a mean gang!
She couldn't watch, she left the area heartbroken with tears in her eyes. Isaac was such a good guy, how did this even happen to him? How could he turn into this? But no, she won't think of it and she definitely not ask him about it. She'll pretend she doesn't know and continue on ignoring him. She will distance herself from him completely till their friendship will automatically come to an official end!Almost there guys, next chapter is it...the big plot twist is coming up!
