As exams came closer, Valarie though it was best to avoid going to the park and spend more time studying. It had been days since he contacted her; he wouldn't text much and since she hadn't been seeing Ian, she thought that maybe its okay for her to text him.

'Hi' she sent. Only after the message was sent that she realized that she had absolutley no excuse to talk to him. Ofcourse she had been missing him but she would tell him that. She wasn't that desperate to talk to him, she just wanted to chat with her friend and know how he was doing thats all. thats it! she thought and started to type at the speed of lightning. 'I just wanted to check on you, its been a long time, hru?'

Ian looked around, he was sitting on a random roof of a small building. His feet were hanging from the edge and the ground was three stories below his feet. This was just one of those random places where he would come to chill out. he thought for a moment...'well same thing' and so he just replied, 'Yes'

oh ...

with ur family?

no, just alone

btw i just realized i kno nothin bout ur family

lol cause i haven't told you ;P

Suddenly he heard someone come to the roof and walk towards him. He heard the sound of heels from behind so he didnt turn to see who it was ...he knew. He quickly typed, umm sorry i hav to go chat later :) bye...

"Wow of all the people i could have run into today, what are you doing here?" The girl behind him asked. Her voice had no emotion and the fact that she was chewing gum made her monotone way of speaking even stranger.

"I'm just chatting," he said with a serious expression, he seemed to be lost in some deep thought now.

"Whats with that serious face?" she said and popped her gum.

"Just wondering..." he said looking at the view of the city from the roof. it was getting cloudy and would probably rain soon. The city looked beautiful. the sun was behind the buildings now and it was slowly getting darker.

"What?" she asked but her voice clearly suggested that she didnt care

"Could she really be more desperate for me than i am for her?"

"Who?"

"My girlfriend," he said with a big proud grin and put his phone back in his pocket. She popped the bubble gum again, her expression still didnt change.

"Why do you have a girl friend?"

"Why now..." he said as he finally got up and turned to face her. He stared into her violet eyes that matched her purple wavy hair and said, "am i not allowed to have a little fun in life?"

"That's not what i meant."

"I know...but i dont intend to share my personal life with you...yet." He said and he jumped to the roof of the building that was very close to the previous one. She followed him. "So you tell, what have you been upto?" he asked while heading down stairs.

"Well i found the perfect target a few days ago and decided to fool him to fall for me then take him to the path of evil."

"Following the footsteps of the red-eyed-devil i see," he said with a smile but she pretended that she hadn't heard that comment. "But it still won't work, i mean for humans its easy but..."

"No, he's different. He's young and gullible and trust me, my acting is perfect deception." They were walking by a road now.

"I guess it may work, who knows?" He went up the stairs of a building under construction and then silently stared at the view from the balcony of the building. She stood next to him and stared at the view too. Then finally Ians eyes lit up when he saw someone walking down a distant street.

The girl spat her gum the moment she saw him too and said with amazement, "is that..."

"That's a high school boy who is after my girl friend" he said pointing to Isaac. "I guess now you'd understand my reasons. Do me a favor and follow him will ya?" The way Ian's tone had suddenly become serious and authoritative, without question she ran down the building. It began to rain heavily as he watched the purple-haired girl follow Isaac from a distance. Once their figures were far from view he started to think about Valarie again. The rain soaked his hair completely since he didnt move from his unsheltered spot and then he frowned and said to himself, "this is no fun...it was too easy."
