Biting on the inside of my cheek nervously, once we're out of the house, Dmitri leads me towards a long one story building with a high roof. The double doors of the building were already wide open and I peer through to see a majority of the pack elbowing and shoving each other to reach for the food on a very long table.
Breakfast with Blood Moon Pack looked brutal.
As soon as the Alpha and I walk in, everyone falls silent. They all stare as Dmitri leads me to the front, along a separate table from the rest of the pack and pulls a chair out for me to sit down. Four Weres scuttle forward with trays of food in their arms and place them in a row before bowing slightly and running off. Before letting Dmitri give me the honours of serving first, I swipe the large spoon from his hand and pile a couple slices of toast, omelettes and sausages. Looking back up at Dmitri, his mouth curved upwards on a smile, I shrug helplessly and take a large bite out of my toast.
"I was hungry!" I widen my eyes at him, forgetting that probably most of the pack was staring at our interaction and my mouth unattractively filled with food.
"I didn't say a word." His brows lift slightly before he slides his portion of food onto his plate.
Before Dmitri could even get into his second mouthful, the man who had stood behind me earlier to stop me from running off, stops before us with hands behind his back.
He reminded me of a mountain.
Moss green eyes and soft chestnut brown hair did nothing to stop me from shuddering slightly from the hardness of his face.
"Alpha Maddox, a sensitive piece of information has just been uncovered." His eyes shift to me briefly before settling on his Alpha.
Was it about me?
Dmitri stands and kisses my temple as I look at him in confusion.
"I'll be gone for a bit, I'm leaving two guards with you."
I nod slowly, the word guards going right over my head as I reach for Dmitri's plate; stomach still rumbling in hunger. Dmitri catches my hand and plants a soft kiss on the back of my hand, making my heart stutter and my cheeks to heat up. He turns and his plate is gone; I stare open mouthed as I watch him walk away with his breakfast in hand.
He'd totally distracted me on purpose!
"Hey." A cheery voice drags my gaze away from my mate.
Turning, I find a guy and a girl sat facing me with respectful smiles on their faces.
"You must be the guards." I smile back politely.
"Yup, I'm Darius and this is Marina." The guy says.
"What exactly do I need to be protected from?" I ask with furrowed brows.
I wasn't a stray puppy.
"The Alpha just wants to make sure you feel welcome here, the pack doesn't really know how to respond to the Alpha finally having a mate." Marina explains, her wild curly hair framing her rounded cheeks.
Marina looked about my age, maybe a little older with a cute baby face but it did nothing to hide the power held in her toned body; the black tank and jeans showing off her lean frame.
"It was awesome watching you beat Lisa's ass, not many have been able to in a while. I guess the Alpha knew that by you whooping her ass, the pack would respect you more." Darius nods appreciatively and Marina hums in agreement.
I shrug on a sheepish smile and finish my breakfast off. Maybe Darius was right about me gaining respect with the pack and Dmitri wasn't as heartless as I thought.
